Scariest night I ever had was camping near Sudbury, ON. Big storm hit the area. We were in a tent, and could tell it was a ridiculous storm... thunder, lightning, hail, crazy wind. It was deafening....
I'm 6'1 and 250 and my explorer fits me awesomely.
My coldest hang was 7* Celsius. So... yeah I got nothing lol.
My tent record is -5 C, and I was sleeping on an air mattress in an awesome sleeping bag with a toque on and was toasty.

I think for that to be effective you would need to have the tarp tied down and pretty tight to your hammock, which would trap the C.O. inside. I may not be a hammock expert but I do know combustion...

Little Joe is a nice lake! Definitely keep trying, set it up in your back yard as was mentioned and try out different things with it and eventually you will find what works for you.

Interesting... I never knew that before! I guess they are like bears in that respect! That sounds alot like what I tell people about black bears when I go camping up north.

I think I know where you may have been... lol I grew up at the top of the escarpment by kinsmen park, I know every little trail along there between here and vineland. FYI It is all private property...
