I'm in....And a Happy Birthday to Dutch!
Has anyone made a hammock out of the regular polyester tablecloth instead of the crinkle taffeta tablecloth? And if so how does it compare/feel?
Maybe I am an oddball but I usually use 6 to 8 feet of amsteel/dynaglide to make whoopies. For my trees at home I usually have about 3 feet of unused tail. Out in the woods I have not had any trouble...
Count me In. Great give away.

I'm In (and I'm not picky)
I'm In, I'm In, I'm In.
I'm in on this spirited event.
OK I liked this ok FB so I am now liking thison HF!
+1 on Randy's service. I got some stakes awhile back and got them super fast!
I got my hooks and flyz in the mail yesterday. I made sure I kept the hooks in the baggie 'cause those things sure are small. I have made locked brummels out of lash it before and that is how I plan...
I'd like to get a pink one so that I can get my wife into hammocking. Because we all know a happy wife is a happy life and there is no better life than in a hammock.
+1 more for treestuff. I sent an order in a few weeks ago and I got it super fast.
Dang it I was in class teaching when you posted. Missed it yet again. Darn those kids that need their education, if it wasn't for them I may have beaten you KerMegan.
You could lose the shelf if you have a ridge line organizer made of the same material as your bug netting.
Also, design wise, Hawk-eye made a Jerry 5 hammock with zippers on both sides that looks...
Now if you wanted to save a little more you could switch to dynaglide rope.
Man it almost looks like Dutch could make a run of 100 pairs of these and they would go quick.
You can put me down for getting a pair.
Who is going to be the first to turn these into trail...
Welcome to the forums Joey from another Fountain City boy. We'll have to get together some time and head out.
Man I wish I could head out with you guys. I already have plans for that weekend. That is one of my favorite areas too. Maybe I can head out next time.
Or for just your next trip just use a CRL for the one time to see what kind of distances you might want for your tie outs. That way you are not cutting anything. You would just need to create a way...
I would think 10 feet on each side is plenty. I have a CRL and use 30 feet and often have 5 feet of extra when done setting up my ridgeline. Just consider all the normal factors for your area such as...
You need to turn that into an itunes app so that it can be taken on the trail. Now that would be cool to have.
Yahoo Falls is in KY
Maude's Crack is an interesting place to visit as well as Pach Corn Creek and Station Camp Creek areas near the Big South Fork River. Angel Falls is another area to visit and cool place to camp....
On that note: what about dynaglide?
I made a few tarp pegs out of arrow shafts - just double the length and angle cut one end.
Yea so when do these hit the market? I would be down for two pair.
I have been pondering something of the MacPack myself lately. Could the belt be used alone as a summit bag/sling bag? I didn't know if the pals part would be too long or if the belt webbing would be...
I'll be on the road tomorrow as well. I just have to take the kids to daycare and pack all my good up. Oh yeah, I have got to make a few goodies to share with those at base camp for tomorrow's...
I too am in the same boat. I could use a second visit to drop some things into it.
I can't say that i liked the KY portion - not well maintained. have done all the stuff around Bandy Creek campground area and liked it. Slave Falls and Twin arches is another good area, as well as...
Do we need to have a permit if we do an over nighter in the Gorge, say down by the river?
I will be bringing my version of the Black Bird - I can't wait to compare it to the real thing since I haven't seen one yet. I am also bringing an IX underquilt that marries my crowsnest almost...
Here is a link from Knoxville to the Gorge. It suggest heading up 81 and then over the mountains. It shaves about 20 minutes off going 40. That's 20 more minutes of the Gorge if you ask me.
I have a cat cut on my ridge line and I wouldn't do it again. It is a bugger to sew. Plus when I close off the ends it doesn't pitch as tightly. But making the rest of your rectangular tarp with cat...
I think that 4 dog stoves does too. It isn't on the website, so just email him about it.
Doesn't that say it is NEW for $180.
Glad to see another from Knoxville. Welcome to the gang.
Same here. A buddy and I are heading to Frozen Head State Park for a couple nights to tromp through the woods and test some of my new gear I made. I am using this as a testing ground for the Gorge...
When I made my clone I believe I used a #5 zipper. I also think that 2Q and ZQ use a #3 zipper (can't remember exactly). The smaller size is harder for it to come apart and separate randomly.
I got mine in the mail today also. At first I thought that he forgot to put them in the package since it was so light. Then I opened it up. These things are pretty cool. I think I too will be using...
Here is a post from Blackgoat that is really good. IF you don't want the net just leave it off. It has been a while since I read it, but I think it is double layer. If not just put two pieces on top...
I'll take a set if there is one left. Just send me paypal info.
+1 on where are they.....I mean we have had all this hype and no where to put in credit card numbers....
Is there a price point on these that can be revealed yet as well as a source - Dutch himself, JRB, ???
Ok I have to ask...What is the Dutch Biner's purpose? What is it going to replace?
Right now I don't even use a 'biner in my setup, so why/where would I use this?
I have used both. Lately I have been using pins a lot, mainly because my tape didn't want to stick to the fabric I was working with. If you are having thread tension problems sometimes the tape can...
Cool, I live in Fountain City, but work in Maynardville. Big Ridge is supposed to be good for a few day hikes
Ok so I was cruising along checking out all the new posts and everything when something in my periphery get my attention - an ad for the Dutch Biner. Before I posted this I checked out that I hadn't...
