Is the spreader bar in the top neccessary? Either way you must tension it up so it's tight in the head end.

Here's mine

Glad that everyone likes it.
I used 4 of 2,7 meter long fir beams, with dimensions of 44mmx44mm (That was all I got at moment).
I used M6 size screws to bolt things together, before that of course...
I didn't have poles that long to make turtle stand so made my own. Whole thing weighs less then 10 kg and stableness is guaranteed with swoopies. Also it gives me possibility to change tilt of my...
Faraday cage idea sounds interesting. It shouldn't be impossible to construct fabric, which ripstop also workw as a Faraday cage :-) i'm thinking what were dyneemas properties, if it transmits...
Yes, that is my little brother:-) but hammocks body is 6meters long (19.69 feet).
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/05/rudymupu.jpg here's one project I made
WOW...
I really didn't expect someone to recognize my region :P
By the way, this year i've already seen 3 bears, friend of mine has seen 6 of them.
Here is the comparison, how can snow or its absence affect awesomeness of place. Both are with 30 m/s+ (67 mph+ or 108km/h+) winds.

86938

What tarp is that?
I go barefoot so i dont have need for anything tostep tobeside the ground. It works in winters also
Too late, I already upgraded to 3 mm dyneema :)
Looks better.
I sometimes like to use my hammock as a swing and guess what, 7/64 amsteel is no good if you want to get a good swing. First thing that breakes is Marilyn spiked part. Then goes everything else, but...
Wowowow. No way you can go back to ground. Once a hammocker, there's no way back i'd say.
Nop, it's not clark. It's something to become
Who can guess what's on the picture?

I live in place where there's a threat of future invasion, so i'm thinking about getting camo hammock and tarp for myself, but overall, I'm really confused.
Just want to ask what are the benefits...
I see thinner trees back there, why don't you just hang on these?
Could you give a picture or video about it?
I like it:)

There's lots of room inside:...
How you get 4,1 m? Maybe I understood wrong, ridgeline of it is 3.6 meters, my hammock's ridgeline is 2.8 m.
PS. Winds up to 10 m/s is fine, but 20 m/s sidewind in open beach is too much work to...
0.4 meters on both sides :)
It sure is roomy, this morning I cooked my meal under it, but it's impossible to put up with 20 m/s sidewind, which I tried today. Had to put it up with one side toward...
First of all, sorry I removed old photos, so here's a pic of old one:

I've chosen my new favourite color for hammocks.
Would be wise to start measuring in Kilograms :)
Looks like a nice flat lay :D
Actually T37 sounds fun.
But, I also have a sleeping bag that's cold to sleep with 15 C but totally OK with -5 C.
I'd bet it's something similiar, but because of this regulation I don't trust this...
Don't know about T37, but I've been researching Thermore Aria as it's possible for me to get it.
Should be promising, but it needs quilting by 5x5 cm pattern. That's a turn off, would prefer...
During a breakfast I put up my hammock and breakfast was upgraded into nap.

And probably only hammock pic with me on it:...
OK. That makes me think maybe it's not a bad idea to start importing and selling it myself.
Who would be interested in that?
Hi everybody.
Does anybody know where could I order silnylon from Europe?
Until now I've used extremtextil.de, but they sell only 65 g/sqm silnylon now.
I have some tests going on.
I've done some simple pull-stretch tests, as a weight I use my own bodyweight combined with climbing gear.
It looks like this:...
There's also Lanex
http://www.lanex.cz/en/racing-line-d-f1
GleisteinRopes Dynaone is also an option. They also gives breaking loads if spliced :)...
My calculations show that 5 oz Climashield should be OK to about 46 F :D
Yeah, I'll admit it's not perfect, with -2 C (or 28.4 F) I've slept with great comfort using my 133 g/sqm (4 oz) Apex.
I've ordered from extremtextil.de
Have used http://www.extremtextil.de/catalog/Dyneema-cord-2-5mm-100-Dyneema::1667.html
and 4 mm one.
Both are holding well.
Temps are in Celsius, but it shouldn't be hard to convert.
If there's someone that could make somesort online calculator for this thing, be my guest, but share!
Searched for CLO values of different materials and found some!
Here it is, also there's some thermic calculations which I made according to mammut sleeping bags website.
Temps are in Celsius!...
CLO value by oz, according to my calculations should be:
550 FP 0,7
Primaloft sport 0,79
Climashield apex 0,82
600 FP 0,88
625 FP 0,92
[Primaloft One] 0,92
650 FP 1,16
700 FP 1,22
I've got 3/4 size UQ, that's why I use my pad also in winter.
Here's a pic from my last weekends hang. Outside temp -18 Celsius or about 0 F.
There's no snow and soil was frozen. Used axe to hit...
In this case I'll be thinking about going into production :)
OK.
Would this thing work?

Well. Did some pulling tests with different methods. Made a whoopie ring onto one, pulled it in as much as I could.
There's no difference. If I could hide the knot on my system, it would be perfect...
Sounds as if easy (or hard) way to make money :)
I've done some tests using my home machine, if to pre-sew somesort of grossribbon inside, it's actually not very hard. Though, it adds weight....
It's not mine, but I have access to it.
It belongs to a local company that makes custom fit backpacks.
http://www.matrixpro.eu/
There should be special foot for this, I just haven't found where...
That sounds great!
Thanks for the idea.
I'll try seam tape thing as soon as i get my silnylon.
I have twoneedle machines in my arsenal.
Has anyone tried "Federal seam"
http://www.apexballoons.com/tips/seamfolding/Federal-Seam-Type-LSc-2.gif
It's used on military tech parachutes and hot air...
Shipping rates to my country over $500 :(
Thanks but no thanks.
There should be something in DIY Ultimate about this.
Bead or whatsoever sort of whoopie stopper is a must.
OK, that's good to know.
Hadn't heard of beads till now :P
I've tried to avoid keychain rings and other stuff that may look to unexperienced guys like a part of suspension, but bead sounds nice....
OK.
I've had real big troubles pulling whoopies through and if i'm lucky, then getting them back out. I've found nothing from this forum that deals with this problem. I've spent minutes in shame...
