Just leave them threaded and attached to the hammock. I stuff my hammock in my double sided bag, then wind up the straps and put them on top of both ends so they are easily accessed.

Did an overnight on Labor day weekend. First night in hammock for Jody. She was very comfortable, but had a restless night (as did I) due to the symphony of critters out there....man was it loud!...
You can use a forked stick to push your straps higher up the trees.
I second the St. Croix, great canoe river and excellent smallmouth fishing, Many nice campsites there also.
My lower back DOES get a little sore after sleeping in a hammock. It also gets sore after sleeping on a couch. In bed there is no problem. Elevating a little under my knees seemed to help the one...
Excited to get my summer TQ! The quality looks amazing, and the Moroccan Blue exterior with Glacier interior looks fantastic! Thanks for throwing in a winter hat as well. :boggle:
Perfect Wildlife Mother's Day Photo
I recommend having them. With heavy winds, I believe they help to keep the tarp from busting off the stakes, and gives some protection against tears.
So I was lounging under my apple trees this afternoon and the 60F weather with a brisk wind was chilling me. I always wondered how a deer hide would work, so I grabbed one from inside and gave it a...
+1 on this. I had the tato tie out deployed last time I was out and during some gale force winds one of my guylines popped off a stake, but the Tato tie out kept the tarp from coming completly free...
Good idea. That's a nifty cook setup there too!
Glad there was photographic evidence that I actually made it to the Hang! You guys missed one heck of a windy rainstorm Sunday night. The rabbit was amazing.
+1 on this. Some fierce winds plagued me the other night and one of my guylines slipped the large stake I had made. The Tato side pullout kept the tarp from totally blowing over my hammock, keeping...
Beautiful area, Nice set up.
What is IX?
The title says it all...can't seem to get rid of those pesky air tunnels coming into my insulation...want to try some draft collars, maybe they could be rigged using some velcro?? I'm having a Tough...
Same issue with mine...but at both ends. I was wondering if draft collars be the answer, but have not researched them yet.
I arrived Sunday around noon. Luckily I met a few people on their way out. River Joe showed me some wild edibles, very informative. Anyway, I spent the night there with my dog Crosby. Man, was it...
Sorry to hear it.
That's too bad. Maybe you could carpool with someone? anyone else coming from around your area?
I'll most likely not come late Saturday. Makes more sense for me to head out there Sunday morning.
I was thinking about a late night arrival, from what I understand the fire should be visible a few miles away. I doubt it though. How late do the festivities usually go into the night at these...
I'll be there Sunday, too busy at work to make it Saturday...bummed that I'll miss the Saturday raffle ect...
Welcome from Greenfield, IN! Hope you make it to the hang. Nothing like sleeping with the rain coming down on your tarp and you are all nice and cozy in the hammock.
You ought to try to make it to the "Hoosier Hang" that is coming up very soon. There will be many setups to look at and try. Don't give up too soon, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.
Yah, that would work. It's just that I see that the exact spot may have changed once or twice and want to make sure it's easy for those of us who have never been there.
Hey there everyone. It seems to me that it might be helpful to have a separate thread with just the facts of the hang. There are so many chatter posts on this one that it is confusing to me at least...
I have an 1972 Serro Scotty Sportsman camper that originally came with a bridge type hammock above the normal sleeping area. It has curtain type rod holders on the sides of the camper, and I tried to...
What type of hike is it from the parking to the site? Wondering about what I can bring with me for food and beverages...
My Father, Brother and I were on a Boundary waters canoe trip and were paddling along when a huge storm came upon us. We were loaded down with gear and only had to paddle about 500 more yards to the...
Funny. So did you solve the calf ridge problem?
Aww Man, More money I'm gonna have to spend...
I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but it probably didn't help that I chopped down a dead pine tree and split some wood that afternoon...not used to using those muscles...yet
I have been there. Clifty Falls is a beautiful park. I'm sorry but do not know about the camping. What and when is the festival?
Thanks for all the replies. One thing I have been meaning to try is something under my knees. I'll try that next time. Neck pillow sounds like a good thing to try also.
That's pretty much the same as what I was trying to explain, but the linelocks make it super easy to adjust the tension, and it's really easy to add them on to your loops of cord.
Been trying to dial in my XLC . Last night I slept fairly well. I did experience some mid back pain. Enough to make me wake up and move around. Moving on to my side alleviated it some.I was using a...

Thats one way, or you can just make loops of the shockcord, attach line locks then your line to the...
I had the same problem last night. I need someone to check everything out while I'm laying in the hammock. Hard to tell exactly where and why that air is getting in. Love my XlC also though. I had to...
I ran into that problem. I was going to bury stakes in the snow, but there was only a couple of inches of powder. Under that was a solid sheet of thick ice. I had a bunch of big log segments that I...
Welcome from Indiana! Get out there and have fun!
Thanks again. Just finished a loop for the end of my guy line, with the buried end on the other end that passes through my line lock. Makes the whole rig a bit neater.
Great, now my Yorkie thinks there is a strange dog inside my laptop! Thanks for the vid.
Probably a deer. Maybe grazing around the site, and curious?
i use the truckers hitch often. useful for tying the canoe/kayak and cinching tight to the truck roof also.
Greetings from Greenfield Indiana!
Wow! Nice pictures, if that was 10 minutes from my house, I'd never make it in to work!
#1 Mini stove
I believe you are thinking about the Hialite creek and lake area where Bozeman gets it's water supply, I fished that creek hard with my tenkara. Great fun catching little brookies, browns and...
I was in Bozeman and went fishing on many of the rivers around there and was impressed by all of the places to camp along the rivers. Especially the Gallatin. Next time I go, I'm bringing a hammock...
