I fell out once when I was new to hanging. I had pitched the hammock too taut and I flipped right out. Wind hasn't seemed to be an issue for me, as long as I have the tarp pitched low enough.
It's really just a matter of opinion, it's not for everyone. I origianlly tried the hammock to "lighten up" my pack. The weight of my tarp and hammock was much less than that of my tent,ground cloth,...
