The workmanship (workpersonship?:D) is as good as any manufactured gear I've ever owned. The girl got skillz.

No doubt about it.
Sold.
$100, comes with original stuff sack and includes basic CONUS shipping (UPS or USPS).
Purchased in March 2011, used twice. Quilt is overstuffed with 1 oz. extra down, is warm and...
Actually, now that I've thought about it, you could probably get away with the "tensioners" on just the ends. LeighLo's UQ does that very thing. I run them up to the head and foot end of the hammock...
Still a noob, nowhere near an expert, so take this with a grain of salt. I just might get around to trying the pod style one winter* so I've thunk on this once or twice. I do have a UQ (LeighLo...
Wow, she reminds me a lot of my daughter.
I once took our church's College and Career Sunday school class for a 3-day weekend at Savage Gulf. Really nice place, will have to get back up there one...
Great trip report. I've always wanted to hike the Bartram Trail so I'm living vicariously through you. Always been enamored with that part of of the South.
Mbiraman, campsite #86 is huge. There are probably 7-8 different coves or sections to it. The southern-most part could probably accommodate 10 tents! We counted four sets of bear cables.
You're absolutely right: GSMNP is a bear sanctuary. It's been my experience that the easier a campsite is to get to, the more careless, sloppy or just plain ignorant the campers can be. It's no...
Overall, I liked it. It's a dual purpose boat, both for touring and white water, so it's not the best for lake paddling. The rudder comes in very handy but a small raised keel would have improved...
Paddled across Fontana Lake up to Hazel Creek for a three-day weekend in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to paddle the distance in an inflatable kayak; I'm sure a...
War Eagle! And welcome too.
Welcome from Alabama. I have family in Hagerstown, spent a lot of time up there, so can I be an honorary Marylander?
Another'n from Alabama. Welcome!
What is the pack weight? Also, what's the lowest temp you've used it at?
Howdy neighbor!
I worked through that in this thread and got some good feedback. Couple that and what I saw in MedicineMan's Carver's Gap trip report (watch the video), I made my decision. Ordered my 2/3 "Summer"...

Stumbled across this while looking for a spring trip destination. Pushes me further in the direction I was already leaning.
The Mrs. only used them for a very short period, then they went to live in the back of her closet. We intended to do something with them a few times but never did.
I'm not the most experienced hanger but my GT UL seems to work better with a tighter hang. I'm 5'11", around 193 lbs. (but dropping :D).
Moving these to another board. Thanks for the interest.

Purchased way back in 2002, these...
Indeed. Doesn't seem to be a universal truth here like, say, key lime pie being the best and highest form of dessert ever. :D
My thinking keeps bringing me back to this. About 1/3 of my trips...
Other than the lower weight and cost, why would you choose a 2/3 UQ instead of a full length? Also, any hangers ever trade or return your 2/3 for a full?
Another'n from Alabama. Welcome!
She comes running if she hears bluegrass from my laptop now, knowing that it's probably a video from "the camping guy."
And another.
And welcome from right outside Columbus (Smiths Station, AL).
Done did. Hangnout and I have swapped some emails. I will probably go with their summer UQ.
Thanks everyone. I figured if there was something I overlooked or wasn't familiar with ("Dude, you didn't account for the Spanglo-Hummus Principium!") it would come out here.
BTW, good to hear...

CreativeKayt has a great step-by-step video on converting a cheap Walmart bag to an underquilt. Actually, she has several great DIY...
I will have the funds shortly for investing in an under quilt, trying to decide what I need. I'm leaning toward a 2/3- or 3/4-length summer down UQ. Assuming a summer bag is ~35-40° and a 3-season is...
My six year-old daughter enjoys watching your videos with me. After watching the Music Box Theatre, she asked with wide eyes if your hat was magic! Of course her favorite part was when you fell...
Right there with you. Here's hoping you get there!
Yup. Alabama too.

Thoughts?
I used to live in Opelika, attended FUMC on Avenue A. I think I've eaten at Ms. Ennis' a few times but it's been so long. I'll definitely go by next time I'm over there around lunch. :) Can't make...
New in town too. "Hi" from Smiths Station, just outside of Columbus, GA.
Another howdy from east Alabama, Smiths Station (just outside Columbus, GA). New here myself.
When I was a young boy scout at summer camporee, I asked my scout master if I could sleep in the canvas hammock he had hung beside the dining fly. He said it would be uncomfortable, that it was just...
Still asking $270 for the UQ?
