Looking forward to doing something other than my backyard.
Same boat and several hundred dollars later, Oh my.

I had been thinking of how to use PVC pipes as extendable legs with one section inserted into the other and a pin of some type to hold it in position. The problem I am having is what to lash the...
Perhaps a bridge hammock would be your best bet although I am mostly a back sleeper but toss and turn, I found I was easily able to sleep on my side if need in my hammock
If you get some reflectix(someone please, might want to correct my spelling)which can be found at Home Depot, make yourself a full length pad of that. It can be rolled or folded and up at your...
Very nice and pretty ingenious idea. It's like a suspended mummy bag. I like the feature of being able to put a pad in it also. Bravo! I wish you good luck, you put a lot off thought into that...
The extendable unipod used for supporting a rifle and even an extendable walking pole with the handle that unscrews to expose the 1/4" thread to mount a camera would work well as you could put the...
JD,
Vote placed. Very nicely done.
Very nice set up as I only have 3 trees in my yard. Two are to close and the other is across the yard from them so, this is a perfect solution. Thanks to everyone who inspired the idea and the...
That's an awesome setup. nice going
I'm in thank you.
My schedule seems to be open that weekend and would enjoy meeting some people, eating and music. Being new to the forum I hope I will be welcomed.
I have the HH Typhoon 70D Polyester which also comes with two end enclosures. I did not know what they were until I saw a video with it on. Between those ends, the slope or pitch of the tarp and drip...
Is there anyone close to the Shenandoah Valley that would like to take an overnight trip? Not sure where to go but, happy to go just about anywhere at this point.
Welcome from another newbie. I hope to hear some stories and pictures
But, everyone has been more than welcoming and thoughtful. Many people have welcomed me and made it feel like home. I just want to thank everyone and hope I may be as helpful in time. Thank you one...
Snow shoes in Alabama? You must of had high hopes.
Those radiant pads are awesome. I slept in my HH the night after I received it and set it up in the backyard . The temp. went down to 46 degrees and I was snug as a bug in a bean pod.
I would like the 1 Thermarest zlite sol (yellow) in perfect condition
$40 shipped. PM sent
Looking for a good cook set, not a cheapy like Ozark Trail. (Coffee press a major plus)
What I have to trade, tons of flies, hand tied by me, fly boxes, tons of tying materials, maybe a rod or two...
Well, the outing was only to my backyard but fun none the less. Most of you have seen my posting of the equipment I just obtained and man, there sure is a large learning curve. Tents are one thing...

Sorry I wasn't aware that I had to post "I'll take it in the thread and sent it through a PM so, 'I'll take the carabineers"
What I have seen most people do is to lash to 7' or 8' long good diameter logs together, put your hammock on and use a stake and guide line to keep the resistance.
Where about in VA. does this normally happen? Could you use a place like Sherandoh lake camping area? Or is it not centralized enough? Or maybe Natural Bridge, Claytor lake?
I am originally from Massachusetts/Rhode Island area which is loaded with beautiful stone walls there. My wife is from Lineville, AL. and she loves to visit N.E. but won't move there. I have been...
My name is Scott and I live in the Shenandoah Valley in VA. I love to camp but at 50 and sustaining back injuries in Iraq, my Nemo 1P just doesn't cut it as the ground is to hard on me. I started my...
