Thanks!
Any other spots? The third leg of my triangle is Yankeetown.
I'm taking an unexpected trip to Florida this weekend. Any recommended sites in the Gainesville/Alachua area?
Seeing some of the discussion, here's what I posted to FB yesterday:
I received my Nube from Sierra Madre research today. I purchased it on Black Friday, saving $50 ($225 for a tarp, netting, and...
We're packing and prep'ing now to leave in the morning. Due to Charlotte traffic, we'll probably leave around 9-10 and get there by 2p tomorrow.
Gresh did great this weekend.
One key point for you, hike at your own pace. Choose any waypoints ahead of time and set the target hang site, then hike with others who move at your pace.
...
BTW the vegetable soup was Baja's, leftover from the pot luck the night before. It was chock full of venison and tasted great.
due to car trouble, I won't make it. Have fun!
Bought it! Got to support our cottage vendors
Already mostly packed...for my trip to Seattle. Be back Friday
I'm always just a little too late :(
Looking into Kings Mtn also. I'll have to drive out and see how far the primitive site is off the road.
OK, we have quite a few hanger in the Rock Hill, SC area and I keep hearing we should organize a hang.
Turns out, one of the rangers at Ebenezer Park also hangs :D so how many people are...
Had a great time...don't know if I can go another year without seeing you guys :)
Work called, things went sideways with the client and now I'm stuck until it's resolved.
Depends how the week goes with work. Working nights this week
Would that be Burrells Ford Rd., Hwy 646, in the Chattahoochee?
I'm IT_Mike and I approve Cowboy's approval ;)
She's already coming, just sharing with me
She loves the hammock you made for the mrs.
Great! Thanks TATO...gf thinks it's pretty. You know what happens next...
You certainly sound like a member of our group...the not-so-anonymous hammock addicts! :boggle:
Come in the middle of the night, stringing your hammock between the Jeeps, and shanghaiing you back to the sprawl! :D
"The OHV trail system is open from April 1 to Dec 15, annually."
I'll have to bring the back seat with me and take people for a ride :D
Bringing the Jeep, have to see if the trails will still be open
I'm only coming for the people. It won't be the same without Santee...
BTW, further west is Hamilton Branch. Their group camp area is out on the penisula
Vote cast...but you'd think they'd remember us from last year and find a way to make it work.
Won't be the same if we're not in the group site.
Sesqui
Santee won't be the same in the 'common' area.
Afraid I won't have any extra gear this time...loaned out all three hammocks for a trip that week.
I'll be using all new (untested) gear this hang and trying to swing with an extra person in my...
Been at mine for almost two years and still not even close... :scared:
Secured a new attorney and done with the games.

Nothing like a divorce in progress to eat up your free time...
Last minute addition...I'LL BE THERE!!!

Great pack for the mule or long treks. I bought it for taking the family camping. With the change in my domestic situation, it's not needed any longer.
Near perfect, I'll get pics up this...
The Dutchman is also a great hike (and less traveled). There's an entrance right there by Yates Place
Fairly confident
Bad new guys, I'll have to bow out.
As some of you may know, I'm going through a divorce and sometimes have to run back to Virginia Beach.
Have a great time, I wish I could be there.
Mike
I've GOT to get around to ordering a UQ
I often just use a single bag, strapped to the pillion pad. It can even be a backpack, which allows you to hike on beyond the edge.
Is anyone bringing charcoal for the grills on Saturday?
Good Morning Dawn,
Yes, I still plan to attend. You guys seem to be handling everything well, so I'm just lurking in the background.
