I was thinking about doing the grosgrain tape inside the ridgeline seam but my experience with silnylon tells me this might impair fabric stretch and would result in light creases and loose halves...
Thank you mr Shug.
All the best from sector 12.
Hi guys.
I need help and clarification. After looking through YT videos and reading through various threads I'm more confused than informed. What is the current consensus on the best stitch and...
This just popped up http://www.easyhammock.co.uk/
Detach the ridgeline and pull your hammock inside out. Stitching and zips might get a tad weird but you will be able to see whether you like it the other way :)
Whoopie hook. Water break and ultra fast way to unhook your hammock and put it away from wet suspension. The only thing that really works for me when setting up or taking everything down in the rain.
I think everybody goes through the same process. We push the weight down until we realize we have sacrificed too much comfort and money so we back up a notch to arrive in our sweet spot.
Both quilts AND the hammock (in it's bishop bag) go in a big drybag at the bottom of my pack. During a longer (a week or two) trip I just throw boh quilts in to the hammock, zip the netting up, and...
I'm 6'4'' and for me the 3/4 uq just kills the benefits and comforts of the hammock. Main problem on the ground for me was waking up with a limb off the pad.
Biggest thing for me in a hammock setup...
6'4" 240 pounds here and I have been through the whole process last year. Few things I have learned.
1. With your size don't bother with weight saving sacrificing your comfort. Full size under...
No no no guys. I am VERY happy with my DH.
Just thinking that it wouldn't be impossible to make it ambidextrous. I'm not in the industry so I don't know what technologies are available. For...
I had my Thunderbird almost a year now and I have an idea/question.
Because the bug net/nylon cover is fully detachable, and the hammock body itself is symmetrical, it's the top part that is making...
Word of caution regarding prussics on dyneema braided cord. You are loading mostly the sheath and not the core and when I tried to hang my punch bag on the pulley and hold the rope with a prussics,...
Just got my new UQ and couldn't resist a lesson from the best instructor :)

And a creepy selfie with Shug :D

Must be some feeling looking at this map and the list of your orders and thinking your creations and yourself is known around the world.
You can also consider adding Poland. I have been living in UK for the last 3 years but I go back very often and that is where I do most of my camping :)
You already have a tarp and two quilts to cover yourself, 2/3 of what you need fot tarp camping (what I have been doing before hammocking).
The real and only problem is bottom insulation. The best...
I think the TB is "top of the range" and it comes with all the extras including tie out shock cords.
At the end it's a normal (very well designed) hammock so you need your quilts and a tarp like...
Woo hoo!! Guys check the order status.
Something is going on :)
Yeah...
Considering it will take about two weeks to get to UK...
Pretty much anything not solid (trapping air) will work as an insulator. It just not everything is good for hiking due to weight/performance ratio.
But you can go with a DL hammock or a potato bag...
868 here.
Waiting is one thing...
I have just changed my order 3rd time. Mor etime you have more you think about it...
You ******* :)
For me (UK) most of the year, unless it's close to freezeing or below.
1. There seem to always be insects drawn to my head torch when I try to find a sweet spot/read in my hammock.
2. Not a big...
I'm playing with my whoopie slings and made a little mod that may be intersting to you.
Dutch was kind enough to make extra long 8' slings for me (I had to hang once very asymetrically, long...
With the ridgeline you can go two ways.
To steep so the ridgeline is slack and not doing anything - baggy lay.
to shallow so the ridge line is under too much tension, theoretically you have the...
Not a bug but it would help tremendously.
The page with all new unread posts (after you click "new posts") is really missing "mark forums read" at the bottom.
After you scroll through all new...
If you looking for a new tarp there is a kick *** deal on a silnylon one:

Yellow...
Thank you for that. Shiny :D
I actually really like the buckles.
Are they 1" webbing compatibile? What is the weight?
Thank you for an open mind :)
Papa Smurf. Any chance for some data on the fabric you helped me choose for my dream hammock?
http://www.dream-hammock.com/Fabric.html
2.3 ACU camo poly/nylon
What characteristics does it have?
That's what I have been thinking. Not a big fan of sleeping in a coffin. As for the UQ protector I rather carry the weight in tarp size.
Am I right thinking that blanket over the hammock body (not...
Guys help me out before I go crazy...
At the moment I'am waiting in line for a thunderbird from dream hammock but I have ordered it without the overcover (I wanted fully detachable bugnet). One of...
I was thinking the same thing today. I have recently dived in to a "proper" kit which means almost 100% cottage vendors. Matt from UKHammocks, Randy from dream hammocks, Dutch and others. At first...
The more I play with it the more I like it. In good weather you can play all you want. But when it's pissing down you need to be quick and simple.
Tarp up, dutch clip around the tree on both sides,...
Hi guys.
Just got the complete set in the post from Dutch, straps, whoopies, hooks and loops. Works great and just what I was expecting. Before I take it in to the woods anyone have any...
Keep ordering guys, it makes me feel a tad better when I'm not last on the list with mine #868
Just noticed it's 6 days already...
Woohoo from Chester UK.
Best place in UK to get top gear is here http://ukhammocks.co.uk/ but be carefull as it's really addicting. Also there is a ton of good folks and info on bushcraftuk.com....
Dream hammocks are symmetrical with symmetrical tie outs which are only requiered for extra comfort. But like I said before, until you zip up the net.
Unless you don't mind sleeping like a banana,...
And one more good point, disclaimer from other vendor:
"Disclaimer Hiking, backpacking, and hammock camping activities involve potentially serious dangers that could result in injury and/or death,...
I had a slip on your cinch buckle. After adjusting one side the webbing wasn't aligned properly and it "jerked" dropping me about one foot. I thought that they are self adjusting, self tightening,...
Most hammocks are symmetrical until you zip up the bug net/overcover.
Also depends on the tarp. My Siltarp3 10x12 is hemmed with a tape so the edge is not as stretchy as the silnylon itself.
One reason I won't go catcut for my main tarp. Straight edge work so much better in the porch mode, especially when all your ground dwelling friends use it :)

I have gone what I call "hybrid". Whoopie sling permanently attached to the tree strap with the whoopie hook on the other end. Whole setup from Dutchware.
You get the speed and simplicity of buckles...
Chester here.
Your best bet would be to shout out at bushcraftuk.com
We even have a hang now and then and something big called BUSHMOOT.
Yeah... Mine (868) after it's made will take another 2 weeks to get to UK...
Exactly, it makes no difference to me weather I sleep with my face toward the fabric or the bug net - I'm asleep. But it does make a big difference if I can lean out of my hammock and use my dominant...
One more thing to consider. There are other bloodthirsty things out there than just moskitos. For example UK (and eastern europe) biggest problem is actually "midge". Tiny pin head size insects that...
I was in exactly the same dilema this weekend as I was ordering my dream hammock. I'm a leftie but had standard hammocks so far. Also I sleep on both sides turning over few times and have no problem...
