Ann and I are stopping up tomorrow. See you there.
i might paddle in friday, but leaving saturday.
12th of what? March ?
All this talk of temps, but what is your start date?
I don't know. Never counted them or the quilts. Been at this for 8 years. :)
Yes. Got mine in 2009. Got about 200 nights with it.
I like JRB quilts. Their 0 got me too -10
wash it, beat it on a rock, soak it in a bucket, it doesnt matter it will soften and shrink. then dye it with water base stain. will be darker but not as dark as you want. hybrid stain works too.
When i saw this thread he was the first one i thought of. you second ;). you guys both helped me on springer 12/31/08
Digging up old hammockers, sounds like a good campfire story ;)
There are many sites you don't need to hike into. That dropping off stuff is for the birds.
we do Bass River with the grandkids every year. boating, fishing, hiking, pets and close to lake Oswego which is pet friendlier, boat and kid friendly.
he is probably NOT talking about rain kilts. a few hikers have started wearing kilts. i don't get it either. maybe just a way of being different and to stand out. the rain gear is usually referred to...
YES i am. Fri-Sat-Sun or Sat-Sun Mon?
i use a contractor trash bag to line pack. i have a stuff sack for clothes and one for clothes (which doubles as pillow). i wear a packa to keep outside dry.
they work. i wouldn't backpack with them, but they work
what are you using ? i use zing-it
Planning to hike the Batona trail in two weeks of so. I am flexible if others want to join in. Will do it in 2 or 3 days.
Included here is a new map that we made. Feel free to print out.
i did 500 miles with a superfly. it was heavy and doors were a waste. i switched to a 9-11 cuben (no doors). have 1200 on that. would never use a tarp with doors for LD, buts that's just me
just stuff it. first top quilt then underquilt still attached to hammock. stuff it good :)
3/4 above 40, full below.
i have a hammock made of coated nylon. 12'-5'. i use it for Kaia. never sweated in it, but only use it in winter.
36 pages. 376 posts for a two day trip. LOL
you stated the 5 degrees has never been proven, so assuming the 1.25 has. if you can increase a quilt from 20 to 21.25 or even 22.5 (which i don't think would even be noticed in the real woods world)...
go to the zero degree quilt. if it drops to 10, what guarantee do you have that it won't drop to 0. also elevations can play havoc with temps. i use my zero up to 30 and am not hot.
maybe moved to pay section? was it directly about hammocks?
is this the guy that was close minded and ignorant? :shades:
6" that way the dog can get in and out and the tarp is 6" off ground.
the director may be there to enforce the rules, not make the rules. asking him to allow this is asking him to NOT do his job. you can educate him all you want and if there is a rule that nothing is...
im glad they changed back.
i asked. they said no. im not one that asks forgiveness rather then permission. just throwing it out there.
not to ruin anything, but hammocks have been banned at the park three years ago. new management. just saying this if you plan to go. we tent there.
we go there every spring. love that place :)
TY for posting.
the blue one is blue. brown one is brown. the same way i named the black cat and the orange&white cat.
went from descending ring (pre-cinch buckle) to whoopies, back to rings, back to whoopies, now just ordered cinch buckle with Kevlar straps. the advantage of the straps is the simplicity and you can...
Just placed another order at Dutchware. This does NOT mean i have a problem. I can stop anytime i want.
Clip On Quilt Hooks (Single)
Options: Color: Black Clip On Quilt...
i can't go. you switched to a "Not-pet friendly site :("
we have a clothes line through pulleys that goes from back porch to tree 50' away. would break 3-4 times a year. used 100' of amsteel 4 years ago without a problem.
finally going to hang the hammock i bought from Syb 3 years ago.
LOL It has been a long time. Could not remember password. It was HAVE2CATS, well we have 6 now :). (i changed password)

I don't ignore it, it's the music of the woods. Cherish it :)
Well after 6 years i decided to upgrade some of my gear because of a gracious $15 gift certificate i won at a hammock hang. everybody else posts about gear coming soon, so why not me?
Are you HAPPY...
saw this guy play tonite. thought yous would appreciate it.
i work that area and sometimes stay to save trip home and back. it is also a great site for a layover paddling the Mullica on the way to Great Bay (Mystic Island) ....AND it is pet friendly, unlike...
i camped there in november. last time i stopped there.
ive done it both ways. Ong-Batona-Buttonwood-Bass River. and in reverse.
You can do it two days. Ong-Lower Forge-Bass River. It's not that bad as long as it's not hot.
I do have GPS if you need...
Why does the heading say BODINE, but yous are paddling the Batsto? Did i miss something?
