And from Vancouver.
What area of the country are you in?
Well, it's been pretty close to two weeks....
So, Maybe, we are down to only 2 days?? :D
Not a lot of free time these days though. :(
1) Doesn't that mean that the plug will likely be rubbing up against your butt during the whole soak? Doesn't sound pleasant.
2) Forget the oil painting ... There is a step down on either side...
How do you drain it?
Looks like there is a drain on the floor ... do you pull a plug and let it flood your bathroom?
What part of BC are you in? If it's not too much trouble taking a trip across to Blaine, I can suggest a really good mail service that you can get packages sent to:
Welcome, From North Vancouver.
Have you considered treating your pack directly?
I hate to say it - My friends had an unexpected expense come up and are going to have to pass on the purchase.
Therefore - I Will NOT take it. :P
My Friend is still interested .... Waiting on a shipping estimate. :)
Interested - PM Incoming
What would you charge to ship it to Vancouver, BC? (V7J 2P6)
I've got a friend that I'm pretty certain will want to get this ....
Are you able to estimate shipping to Vancouver, BC?
I pick mine up when I make a trip to bellingham for the day. Redden Marine is great for amsteel and Zing-It. I haven't found anyone local that know what amsteel is, that is also willing to deal in...
Works for me :)
Welcome from a fellow Vancouverite.
Welcome, from a fellow vancouverite!
Most of my gear is DIY - It really helps make it your own.
Are you in Vancouver proper?
Welcome from Vancouver, BC.
Leavenworth is my wife's favourite little town. (Mostly for the Bavarian theme). Seems like great country to get out into around there.
I have a friend that may be interested.
Can you post/send some pics?
Also interested - If HeyNomad doesn't want it
Is your main support some amsteel going down to the TR and wrapping around it several times, or do you have some sort of Hardware in your TR?
Have you tried using the vertical supporting...
I'm using a 3 piece system and have a slight upward bend, which I have virtually eliminated (see the later posts).
I don't have any sideways bend.
Can you take a picture of how you have...
The HSCT was definitely the more interesting hike, but also the more difficult.
I would have no hesitations/objections to doing either (both) of them again.
Curious question - What part of...
That's exactly what I was thinking...
Last night I switched one side like that (I didn't have an appropriate length line for the other), and the bowing was decreased.
I've actually discovered...
I have a few pics of my TDS with me loaded in the Hammock...
The pole does flex upward, which, when I look at my rigging, makes sense that it would do so. I don't believe I am nearing the point...
Here are a couple of links to the pics I took:
I've only had a chance to try it out a few times. (I managed to do a comparison between the extremes of my adjustable RL and things went pretty good. Hoping to do more fiddling in the next couple of...
For Backpacking with the hammock I've only done the Howe Sound Crest Trail (from Cypress) and the Elsay Lake Trail on Mt Seymour.
I haven't had any trouble with using the hammock at provincial or...
Welcome from North Van!
I'm still pretty new myself, but have had a few trips not too far from home.
What is the perceived benefit of using the heat shrink??
If the bury is buried fully, it's not coming out by accident. It seems like it would just be an extra something to catch on things, and...
I did it!
Here is my build thread: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/107471-My-Take-on-the-TurtleDog-Stand?p=1428908&viewfull=1#post1428908
Sorry I didn't get over,...
Here is the TDS I made, mainly for use in my single-tree backyard, but also for car camping when needed...
I started with the basic TDS design that so many have contributed towards.
perhaps I will. :)
I have those Mule Tape straps and a RL Organiser for you to enjoy anyway. :P
So, I did a little research at my local Big Box. I plan on comparing with a few other suppliers in the area, but thought I would get opinions on a couple of things here first ....
I have a couple of friends that want to get in on hammock camping. They are looking to start getting gear and really like the HH's my wife and I have.
They are looking for:
After A LOT of reading, I'm going to start working on a TDS once I get a chance.
I figured the existing post was too weak, as is. I was hoping someone might have a simple idea to make it work ......
I recently moved and am looking to get my gear set-up in my new backyard, but there isn't a super easy or obvious hanging solution. I'm hoping you folks can give me some suggestions....
I've used a regular desk stapler opened up to staple fabric to the floor (don't use on nice flooring!!) for layout purposes. Always staple on the waste area, as above. Worked pretty good to keep...
That sounds like it might work.
Can anyone do a test??
Just recently? Wow. That's kinda sad. :P
I read a long document on various ways of connecting various materials (rope, webbing, chains, chains-rope, etc)
It had a section on webbing, which may have been one of the original uses for the...
Thanks for doing the test.
At least we're trying to make it work. I love that about the group
I tried loading as much as I could without actually having it set-up.
The original way I took the picture is a pain to undo, but found using a bight as a slip knot worked pretty good.
That's what I was trying to say with:
"You can also bring through a bight resulting in a secure slip knot, and doesn't require pulling the whole line through. (Probably the better method,...
I've been playing around with my SHs trying to think of a way to secure the line without causing damage, or at least minimizing it.
If I understand the issue properly, the weak point is created...
Has anyone done enough hangs with the 1/8" version to say if they are having the same issue?
Perhaps the solution is simply moving to a slightly bigger diameter line?
I tried using a modified SS undercover with just my UQ and didn't like the result....
(My mod was removing the bungee for bottom entry, so it was quite loose fitting and didn't bunch up my UQ.)
