I will plan on being there, never been to Ludington SP.
I have only been there when there is no snow. Coming in on the M65 side would add considerably to the hike, snowshoe or ski in. I will try to check with the forest service to see if Ausable Road is...
If you wouldnt mind another soul heading out with you, I may be able to make it. I have been all through the area, it is called the Hoist Lake Foot Travel Area. I did a piece on it a while back and...
Hey, welcome to hanging and tarping. I have always used a rectangular tarp for a couple reasons.
First they were less expensive and I didn't mind carrying the extra weigh of an inexpensive tarp...
I am sure a lot of you have been to the GSM and I am heading there in a couple weeks. Are there any issues with hanging in the campgrounds. Thinking of Elkmont as it will be on my way through the...
Great way to create an under quilt. I had plans to do the same, glad you got there first, it showed me I was not insane. Well Ok, not about the quilt.
Count me in if I can get away. Haven't been to Seaton Creek in a long while, need to see it again and just hand around a bit. :)
that sounds fantastic. I was really taken with the area and plan on heading back down asap
I am back and took the advice of heading for the AT. I ended up at Walnut Flats campground for a day, hit the trail over near Dismal Falls. Plenty of places to hang so much Forest Service land. Then...
Need a few suggestions for some places to hang in Virginia. I will be in the area of Radford, about 30 miles from Roanoke next week (July 15 - 20) anyone have suggestions?
Thanks for the info, I checked them out they offer a lot of options.
I have been using micro ropes from Byer for my suspension, but want to move to tree straps. Could I get a few suggestions on which ones would be best to use? I also want to add them to my small web...
Hi, I use a Moskito hammock and like it quite a bit. Very comfortable once you realize as SilvrSurf did that it has to be hung with a deep dip in the center. First time I hung mine, it was not...
Welcome Chetter72, though I am not the heavy hanger in the family my son, whom I affectionately refer to as "The Rhino" is and trying to find a hammock that will be safe at the 360 mark, is a...
Welcome from a fellow Michigan hanger. Enjoy all the site has to offer.
Coffeedrinker, For me it was comfort and weight. I have been a tarper for years and going to a hammock just made sense. So much more comfort. You will love it.
Welcome back to North America and to HF!
Looks great, love the size. I like rectangular tarps for the huge rain coverage they give. Great job!
Welcome to the forum, hope you hang around (yes bad) .
Gee thanks, now I have to go and spend some more cash on what looks like a wonderful tarp. :-)
Now when you give her your gear, you have to use the tact of "here have this great hammock and I will get a new one, not as good as the old one, but only the best for you".
Hey thanks all for the input. Sounds like a solution to my wandering bag problem. :)
Yes MOST are nature shots :) Having worked as a photojournalist for a rather long time before moving only to writing and then as an editor (a mistake they fire the managers first when a paper is...
Has anyone else had this problem. I am using a Byer Mosquito Traveller and when I have my bag in it the foot of the sleeping bag ends up going over the side of the hammock at the bottom, collapsing...
Have to agree with SoCal Mike about asking forgiveness .... and with his observation on talking to the powers that be first.
I was going into an area were fires were banned and only stoves allowed....
Just wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself a bit. I am a long time backpacker, writer and photographer.
I guess I am a slow learner, but I have just embraces hammocks. Being a...
Good idea. I was just out in my Moskito Hammock and had a bit of a problem with my sleeping pad slipping. I will give this a shot. Thanks
