I use the DH Gear Sling. Does the job and weights less than some mesh peak shelves.
Lots of room. Practically any thing I'm not wearing goes in there, clothes-wise. The Smurfs make good stuff....

I'm new to DCF so it gets the call now...but I still feel like a traitor to my 12' Sil AHE Toxaway. It never failed me a single time.
Making sure my Hammock, Insulation kit, and clothes that need to remain dry are the only things going into the inside of my pack did the trick for me.
I also went with an outside food canister...
The extremely nice thing about including a hammock in any UL or LW kit, is when you end up a pound or so over whatever your target weight may be, it's all pretty much comfort. :thumbup1:
Getting up and moving around after peeing of course. It's a roll of the dice, move around too much I'm woke up, but that's alright I don't mind being up as the forest wakes up. I'd miss that...
Yes I'm kind of feeling that way. Never realized how cold my lower legs were getting. Go figure.
It is a Sheltowee Bonefire Whisper 30 degree custom. Weights in @ 1.9lbs. I don't require the sit...
Sure thing. @17 UQ set up was a 3/4 length 20 degree Lewis(Lost Biker) nested with a 2/3 length 20 degree HG clone. Neo-air sit pad in the footbox
Cold @ 30 using just the 20 degree HG clone with...
It's a bit of catch 22. UQ too loose too cold. UQ cinched too tight and it bunches up allowing cold air in. About that time you can also feel the UQ and it can add or be just as bad as calf ridge.
...
Nope. No cold spots. 17 with no wind for the lowest. I was sleeping in med base layers, wind/rain pants, and Patagonia Std down sweater, knit hat and fleece hood.
I also froze my butt off in the...
Synthetics. Dedicated sleep clothes. Extra pair of socks in cold temps to allow the wet ones that didn't completely dry out over night, a few more hours hang time before I have to use them again.
...
Asym hammock eleminated if for me. I lost my left side roll, but still can manage the right side, when I want. Small sacrifice to kill the calf ridge forever. You do have to elevate the foot end...
JRB's 40 degree SS is the only piece of gear that made the cut when I went UL.
Not real big on second owner insulation, but it was bought used right here on HF and still makes every trip. Never...
Simpler is better. I've switched to an all in one suspension that runs off of straps with Ti-cinch buckles for the tarp. Amsteel with dutchhooks dropped from the same suspension provide a nearly...
Indeed it might, but until then just use a hiking pole or a stick to push that suspension up a little bit higher on your trees.
There is nothing wrong with Eno for your application.
It's probably more like what isn't right, and most of that doesn't matter a scratch as long as it suits you and your needs.
I've been using a Sheltowee 10' Asym. The Bonefire suspension provides a nearly perfect hangle and the combination of the two gives me the flattest no calf ridge lay of any hammock used to date.

Unless you are a cold sleeper, for those temps a 40/20 insulation kit might work better. If you sleep too hot and need to vent, in most circumstances that can also lead to more condensation.
My...
All my LW gear is still in great condition. I'm retired and decided not to wait until it wore out to buy lighter stuff.
If my 12" AHE Toxaway Hammock tarp were to out live me, I'd never have...
Knotty mods for the excess material, might just work.
It will draw up most of the excess around your face and adjusted just right give you sort of a footbox down around your feet. I started out...
Tomorrow thru Sat-Sun. The weather is just too nice.
(Nebo)Old Southern TH to Browning Hill, Stone Henge, to Browning Hollow and back. Looking for the listed "Old Foot Trail" on the Topo running...
You'll still do a lot better pointing out blemishes and not just stitching but practically any construction flaws, that might occur, to one of our vendors, and expect proper attention. Pretty sure...
A Tarp is your shelter. If it doesn't work, your hammock and insulation kit does not as well. Even though it's on top it's kind of the foundation for weather protection. Like the base course in a...
When ordering always ask for well behaved wasps.
Dutch will be glad to accommodate. He might even send encouragement or a motivational message to ensure proper behavior.
Go git em Gris
If you have a need by date, always let them know when you order. Things have a way of working out :thumbup1:
The damage/liability argument is extremely obtuse. You will need an attorney and expert paid testimony to inform/argue either one, either way.
Sure you can lobby for dedicated poles and signs...
I use shock cord on the side pulls on the walls of my HG DCF Hex.
Not so much to maintain tension as to allow the sides to move a bit with the wind if need be during storms.
Life happens. I'm out.
Have a good hang
In my ground pounding years, I always just expected to sacrifice the first couple nights sleep going from bed to pad.
When I decided to make the jump up to hammocks I noticed immediately the same...
All take notice. Thanks Mescript.
Hunter's Creek Rd is well marked off of SR446. 2nd CR south of TRRd.
This will be interesting to see if this and the weather deters or concentrates the usual...
I was just going to post a pic of my car...:thumbup1:
Same here. Same reason.
My dog is a Border Collie/Corgi cross. He's like, two times smarter than it takes not to sleep under an obvious overhead falling zone.
Still good advice. Thanks Watertooner
East Central has been very instrumental for the last several Hoosier HF Hangs and it's appreciated.
I'd say welcome and bring along a friend.
I used my HG DCF Hex over the weekend. That's pretty much the key for the most coverage, hang low to the hammock SRL. Ample coverage especially with the pull outs. You just aren't going to sit under...
Pretty sure you'll be able to leave the filtering kit at home. Creeks dry as a bone this weekend.
Bring a little extra water or just plan a resupply run. Woods were great, expect a crowed parking...
I decided this weekend that I really liked the view of the stars thru the DCF Camo. I like getting up when the sun comes up too. Best of both worlds for me.
Keep us posted how it works out.
It would be great to have you. CV2 stands for Crescent Valley 2. It is a group hang site found and named by HF member> Mule.
The HFHoosier Fall Hang is in The Deam Wilderness Area in the Hoosier...
I didn't really mean the material was stiff, although thats good to know. I guess for me @ 457gr 48" x 36" not all that heavy.
An HG Econ Phoenix comes in right @ 492gr but is a bit larger for...
I'll give a shout out for Jacks r Better. When I switched over kits this summer, my 40 degree Sierra Sniveler was practically the only piece of existing gear that made the cut from my old LW kit to...
Material from 2 quick fold windshield shades? I don't think I've seen anything down filled out of that. Certainly unique.
That's usually just sort of thin Relflectex, which doesn't breath all that...
Good luck on the Cumulus.
If you get tired of guessing dimensions, quality and such, you can try any of our HF Cottage vendors. All that's well explained up front.
I switch sides all night long. When I turn to my left, since I'm a head left, feet right asym, it puts my face nearly into the hammock body. I find by sliding my Nemo Fillo over until it pushes into...
Maybe then you would be more of the, use a poncho as a hammock application, and not the other way around. Most hammocks are breathable, so a coated poncho would certainly stop the wind better.
...
Hammock Gear, Dutchware Gear, Dream Hammock, are all great places to start. Contact someone there and they will probably be able to offer you several different units, from several different materials...
On the way into hammock backpacking, you want to choose a pack last, that will fit your hammock and all your gear.
On the way down, buy the pack first and the weight and packability of the rest of...
That idea went out the window the second I bought my Buganator.
My plans as well. Cya there
I've thought of that, but then noticed my UQ isn't actually wide enough to clip to the edge of the hammock w/o pulling the extra fabric down. Once dialed in at least I don't need any extra help to...
