Perhaps the late frost got them.
Last time I was in the hammock section of an REI, the clerk did not even know what an underquilt is. Of course, they don't carry them (or did not at the time, at least) so why should the clerk know...
Never thought I'd purchase one, but I won a cuben fiber Hammock Gear standard tarp at the Florida Hang back in January. Now I won't leave home without it. I actually love the sound in heavy weather.
Congratulations. Glad to see you here.
Sheesh! ... just when I thought I didn't need any more gear.
I have always experienced nothing but excellent customer service from HG over the years. My guess is that the complaints must be due to some exceptional event.
This looks like South Carolina, doesn't it? :boggle:
Hey! While you folks were high and dry and over-fed at Merchants Millpond, I was hanging through tornados and a very muddy 2" downpour somewhere in the middle of South Carolina. I earned my stripes...
I hope to be able to make either weekend. Looking forward to it.
oh boy ... I'm getting a headache already ...
I'll be thinking about you folks. Have a great time ... and remember to leave a sacrifice for the gators.
Welcome from the North Carolina coast!
Which airline are you flying?
Is this thread some sort of April Fools joke?
I ordered some Dutch bling on Saturday and then some fabric remnants about the same time Sunday. Based on order numbers, his site accepted over 150 orders in about 24 hours.
That's a lot of...
I learn something new on this site every night.
I don't think moths eat syl-nylon or poly.
Based on your comments above, you at least know the right questions to ask.
What is the "international AT?"
Excellent write-up on the Envy-S. Thanks!
Used mine a few weeks back when the power went out overnight.
I've got a DIY ridgeline organizer similar to McBlaster's above, only without the hooks. It just hangs over the ridgeline secured by Velcro. Made mine out of some spare mosquito netting.
For hammock trivia, I would want to be on Gunner76's team. Wish I could join y'all.
On a solo up in the Boundary Waters, had a very large animal sniffing right next to my ear under the tarp one night. Woke me up every hour throughout the night but I never saw it nor any tracks. It...
Got me some Argon. Thanks Dutch!
Your gear will be fine. You'll have a few nights of frost (even in July) and a few uncomfortably warm nights, but most nights will be very nice.
One tip for the skeeters ... use a broad-brimmed...
+1 Either my hearing is going bad or we've got a lot of complainers on this board. :-)
Voted. Good luck!
Maybe Ben spelled it "seperately." :)
Got any pics?
My ten year old Kelty Noah's 12 has held up perfectly through several 70 mph coastal gales. It's a work horse. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the Chinook (but I like the name).
Ha! I read the first post without looking at the date and started wondering if I had missed and eclipse.
I find the hammock and tarp to be liberating, not confining. Here's a pic from the BWCA using a Noah's 12.
Can't wait to see that wagon once Kingsford and Hotlips get it pimped out for cookin'.
Congratulations. Now I'm really sad to be missing the Fat Butt Hang. :thumbup1:
We want pics when you get it geared up.
Seems to me, the term "cheap high quality down" is an oxymoron.
If you get cold, you WILL wake up.
Do we now have to solute twice when we see you?
There are a lot of folks down here in North Carolina that wish your soldiers had felt that way back in 1864. :)
Just when I thought I had everything ....
The Noah's 12 gives you lots of extra shade in the summer...
My first thought was "miniature BDSM gear."
WalMart sells something called the "Long Resistance Tube" in its sporting goods section for around $10. Gotta cut the handles off, though.
+1 Use the email; he'll do you right.
Very helpful video. Thanks. I'm building my list now and it's easily over $100 already.
I think the bug net on my WBBB definitely adds a few degrees of warmth. I notice it mostly during the heat of the summer. It does not stop cold winter breezes.
Last weekend I spent one night in...
The Lowes on the Outer Banks carries both 8 oz. and 10 oz. canvas painters tarps. I made a prototype sock out of the 12' X 12' eight ounce canvas painters tarp (yes, it is heavy ... over four...
There is a time when you could have been shot for that!
I stand corrected. I certainly did not see any alcohol at the hang. Urp!
Hmmmm. Could alcohol have anything to do with it?
