I don't use a biner. I just use the dual rings for easy adjustment. Basically, I have full length webbing (15 feet each side). And use the Speer four wrap knot.
It held me up; I weigh 270 lbs. The only set back? If you're using a lark's head, once the knot tightens up it'll be hard to get loose. That why I use 3.8mm instead.
The real question is will it...
Here is a cool Evenk knot for hammocks:

All the manufacturers should switch to this set up . . .
But you're right HH's, Speer's, Claytor's, and other commercial setups are idiot proof. I heard a park ranger once say that if customers...
Then don't use a biner
*Sigh* you engineer types. 3.56 ounces saving then.
Yeah, I bought steel rings from Annapolis Performance Sailing. fugiduhboutit. 5.12 ounces for four rings (1.28 oz each).
SMC's descending rings only weigh 1.56 ounces for four rings (.39 oz each)!...
Not for an industrial machine. Some industrial machine can get over 3000 stitches per minute. Imagine being in a factory sewing hammocks all day on a home sewing 800 stitch per minute machine, you...
Yeah, go to almost any quilting website and they recommend a walking foot for quilting for even working with silk or silnylon.
How is that working for you? As I wrote in another post, I could barely sew up my primaloft quilt. I didn't have a walking foot machine so I barely got the thing finished. Is there a walking foot...
Wow, they've even got a 22.2kN version. I bet you could hang the Space Shuttle off that, lol. Or is that like a comparison to another product?
Sorry for such a harsh tongue.
Dude, don't volunteer yourself for the Darwin Awards. Get some real freaking rings. At 300 lbs dude you need something that's like a 1200 lbs working load at least. Your hammock and supports take way...
Which photo album is it. I can't find it.
Yeah, notice the 1, 1.25, and 1.5 all have the same working load so you're not giving up strength buy using the smaller rings.
Yeah, I like this support system much better than the Speer knot, especially with the descending rings. It gives you much more adjustment.
I bought the rings from...
lvleph, wow, that anchor hitch really does keep things even. I hope to test it out fully when I get my Syderline in.
Or just buy a old heavy machine like mine:

A guy built it for me. He added a big flywheel to reduce the gearing and a big motor. It can...
