Link to the Whiteblaze thread I found a while back: http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/showthread.php?59363-Polycro-Groundsheet-Home-Depot-Lowes. I assume this is a thicker product.
Beautiful quilt. May I ask the weight?
Welcome from Cary, NC. Congrats.
My recent camo tarp from WB was digital pattern as well.
Ill take one PM on the way.
Welcome from the bog!
Welcome from Raleigh. Both Raven's Rock and Eno River have hike in "easy retreat" sites that are suitable for early solo hikes in my opinion. Also this time of year traffic should be sparse so it...
It's great that you left the magnets.
TP.............
So these are sold? If not I have a HH Expediton W/ No netting and stock tarp.
Welcome from Raleigh.
Welcome from Raleigh NC. Any suggestions for someone living in our area to learn about scuba?
Very happy with the new Dutch hooks. Keep up the good work.
PM sent with standing offer on tarp.
Does the BMMJ have side pull outs?
+1 Never Have.
Interested in trying out a Hennesy Over-cover #2. Good condition or better only. Payment through pay-pal. Please include shipping price in offer.
Thanks,
Ken
Another interested depending on when. Camp regularly at all of these locations and enjoy them all. If lake based I have a handful of kayaks that I am willing to bring along.
Have you tried adjusting the ridgeline length or removing it entirely?
I have both and use the bottom entry more often than the zipper.
+1 snakeskins on the hammock. The most important thing to protect is your sleeping and warmth gear.
Welcome from Raleigh.
Pillow. Stuff sack partially lined with fleece.
Hit the ground a couple of times kayaking on the NC obx when the only available trees were small and scrubby. Hanging in an hh deluxe I suspended the ridge-line with sticks and stakes. My tarp was...
Welcome from North Carolina.
Well you know you and your girlfriend can handle one of the most difficult sections of trail in NC. Congrats. After first tackling Rock Jock as an exit I too vowed never to use it again. However a...
+1 Separate ridge line hung lower then hammock straps. I recently stayed dry during the recent hurricane and tropical weather on a section of the mountain to sea trail in NC.
Hang your tarp from a separate ridge-line if you don't already. then hang pack with rest of the gear from the tarp ridge-line. Your pack will be close, hidden behind your tarp and, it will not...
My tarp lives in the mesh outer pocket on my pack when on the trail. I use skins on my hammock setup though.
Looks good. Are you thinking bugnet next?
Welcome from a fellow NC hanger. You may want to consider an overnight hang in the back yard or a local park before your overnight trip with the scouts.
Welcome from Raleigh.
What type of camping or hiking do you intend to be using your bugnet with?
No need to buy an underquilt if cost is a consideration. Search the DIY pages and you will learn how to turn many items you may already have handy into a functioning underquilt. Depending on the...
+ like and use bottom entry in addition to side zip.
I live in Raleigh NC and would be interested. It would be great for all of to edify ourselves in addition to what we read in books and online. Great idea.
MI parks have regulation like many states. I have camped at many backcountry sites in Michigan that have regulations concerning where you were allowed to camp in proximity to the sites(most do)....
Welcome to hammock forums. The only way I found a consistently comfortable lay in my ENO DN was to add a ridge-line. Easy and cheap it took the fidgeting out of my ENO setup.
I had a similar problem with leg soreness when I started out. My solution in a HH was to make sure the foot end of my hammock was at least 8-10 inches above the head end regardless of ground level. ...
I agree with ramblinrev the stock HH tarp can give complete protection in the worst conditions when used properly. Things to consider separate ridge-line for tarp hung lower on the tree then the...
Welcome to Hammock Forums from another new member.
Glad she is okay I had a bear remove 7 days worth of food from 25ft up in a tree this march just past walasi yi. Unfortunately a lack of LNT ethics on the trail has left some heavily traveled trails...
I tried two different HH models from REI for weekend trips before I settled on the Explorer Deluxe. My local coop was great at helping me find the right fit.
Hangers in the southeast need to be especially aware of hanging near trees that have been infected by the blight. The widow makers are first togo.
+1? Bring under-quilt and late fall / early spring clothing. Post a 25 degree drop on a 55 degree day after a front I never put on all my clothing.
After a long trip or a couple short ones I throw the hammock W amsteel attached into a mesh bag and run it with other gear.
Bears Bears Bears
I can't speak for all of the OB sites but the sites around Ocracoke do not have suitable tree/large shrubs for hanging. I had to stealth camp in the surrounding wooded area. Sounds like a fun trip...
Great quote.
