You don't really need those long whoopies and that long bar. If you simply hang on a small continuous loop at each end of the hammock, the bar can also be shorten by 3'-4'. This will lift you up off...

Wow! You have to post this picture in the "Awesome Hangs" thread!
Hey hppyfngy, your yard is starting to look like a variation of Stonehenge!
There is absolutely zero horizontal pull on the tripods with the hammock suspended correctly. Add a tarp, and there is nothing but horizontal pull. It's physics, my dear Watson ;)
To rig a tarp...
So, it sounds like I should borrow my son's ice hockey gear before trying one of these!
Glad no one was seriously hurt!
I'm sure he needed a Labor Day project - why else would they call it "Labor" Day?
At first, I thought you had to replace you own leg!
Glad it was just the stand :)
Welcome to the forums!
So how long did you have to wait for that perfect sunset shot?
That's a really sleek looking stand, Sandpiper!
Hopefully I'll make it to another Texas hang and see more of your creative handiwork!
Wow! Looks very professional Kyle!
OK, forget about the stand for a minute.
I want to know where you work so that I can apply for a job there!!!
There is absolutely no end to improvement on HammockForums! :woot:
Don't forget little snowshoes for the tripod legs!
DM, you could put 3 tripods in a triangle with 3 poles between them and hang 3 people. Separate stands would require 6 tripods & 3 poles. Now add one more tripod with 2 more bars going to it, and you...
No progress is made without trial & error!
It is metal conduit found in the electrical dept. at Home Depot/Lowes.
Wow! That put a tear in my eye. As parents, we know that the gift we're giving isn't the hammock - it's love.
And that stand looks to be as solid as your love for your daughter!
That's fantastic, Dave! She'll be blown away by this, and so will you!
Even though she's grown, I know she'll always be your little girl :)
That's really cool, Dave!!
That's the reason I avoid campgrounds.
But having a stand certainly broadens your options.
Sweet hang!!!
Inquiring minds want to know ;)
