I love my super fly!!
Welcome from chattanooga!! We should all plan a trip in the Smokys (or whereever).
Welcome from Chattanooga! We should plan a hang. I keep planning on backpacking in the Smokys. I mainly just backpack on the Cumberland Trail.
Great information! This is what I had heard as well. This kind of makes it more complicated for getting to use a hammock...have to carry a sleep pad.
Interesting...So, does that mean you can set up
a hammock right outside of a shelter instead of staying in the shelter?
I've been looking at doing some of the AT as well in the Smokey mtns with my hammock. However, from what I've read, it appears that you must stay in a shelter when hiking the AT in the Smokey Mtn...
-Grand Trunk collapsible camp stool
-sea to summit pocket shower
Just purchased one of these from Jared at Simply Lite Designs. He was very helpful on my questions. Also, the pillows are on sale and you get free shipping. Hard to beat.
Is this this similar to what I've seen that hangs under hammocks to store gear?
Great looking tarp! This is my next project.
Great looking pillow. Do you happen to know the size?
What size did you get? i have the meduim and I think it is a little to large for my hammock.
Thanks Gravity! This is a great list.
Does it compress down pretty small to fit in pack and does it even come with a compression sack?
Yes..thanks for the diagram. I had guessed them wrong too.
Another new hanger just posted from Chattanooga here a couple of days ago (https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/103098-Hello-from-TN/page2). I'm new to this as well. We need all to find...
Sounds good to me. I'll probably go some this winter too(when its not below freezing).
Welcome from Southeast TN as well!
I'm in. Thank you!
Bump......
Yep. I missed it too.
This is a great idea. I guess the key rule here is to make sure it is angled below horizontal so that one does not flood his hammock.
Thanks for sharing. This is one of my goals. I appreciate you also listing your gear.
I have been researching so many knots on youtube and other sites. This book is great. I think I might know be able to do something besides a granny knot.
Great information! Thanks Shug.
Welcome from Chattanooga!
I didn't see it either.
Let's u know how it works out! I've heard a lot of good things about them.
Great looking setup. Did you have a lot of experience sewing? Just curious. I would love to do more of this but don't have a ton of experience sewing.
Great information. Really appreciate you putting this together. I love spreadsheets.
Just placed an order on the DIY box! Looking forward to sewing my fingers together.
I'll think I'll try to make it too. I look forward to meeting other hangers!
Thanks for the info. I did not know that.
Sounds like great deal. I've been thinking of buying this down and buying a shell from underquilts.com. Does anyone know how this down comes packaged? I assume tis not packaged in 1oz bags.
Welcome from East TN! That is a beautiful area.
Does anyone know what deals occurred last year on Black Friday?(20 percent, 30 percent??) I'm really intersted in finding a good deal on an UQ. Thanks for any information provided.
Great post Bucs57! How has the UQ held up? Also, about how small does the UQ compress too? I couldn't tell exactly it compressed to in the pic? Thanks for any tips you can provide. You've inspired me...
I'll take it!
PM sent.
I will keep you posted.
Has anyone created this tarp without the catcuts on the sides and add tie outs in the middle to allow the ends to be closed off during bad weather? Just curious. I thought about it.
Thanks funnybone. Unfortunately I have an explorer ultralite which is longer than the expedition. Thanks anyway! I appreciate it.
Still looking!
..also, do you know about how old it is?
do you happen to know how many times this hammock has been used?
Thanks!
Thanks Hudson. I've found some information but no great write-ups. I'll keep looking.
Thanks Fronkey. Did you install D rings on any of your loops? Sorry, if I missed this already.
Needless to say that I'm new to the whole hammock camping experience and I've learned alot on this forum by reading alot of threads(this forum is a great resource!). I just acquired a used hennessey...
This is a great video!! It's ecouraged me to try to build my own tarp. Thanks Fronkey for the video. When I visited Ripstopbytheroll website, it said that the silnylon was only on sale until...
Thanks for everyone's input. I greatly appreciate it. I will definitely look into the mambajamba. I'm hoping I can also find the factory tarp that goes with it since it probably packs down even...
I'm up for a hennessy explorer tarp, hex tarp, or a WB Mamajamba tarp.
Thanks.
Thanks guys. Do you know how much the mambajamba weighs? Is it silnylon? I may give that some thought.
I'm fine with getting the hennessy fly that matches the hammock too(explorer ultralite). But,...
