Got the calendar marked, just hope I can get my stuff together enough to make it this time around.
I'll keep that in mind, i'm a hot sleeper so i'lll probably be okay, i'll try to take into account of where the previaling winds are coming from and keep out of em as much as possible. I got a pair...
A great reason to hike south if ever there were...

Ugh, I hope, no matter where I hang my hammock, that the weekend stays the same...
Still a mystery to me when I get fabric from wally world but, I can at least now recognize the differences between coated sil and not... not like they're marked or anything...
Another update, seems as though I have a little more sealing to do but, with that said, it's almost done!! I hung the tarp this morning since it was lightly raining and it's got a few spots that need...
I have a couple of the yoga mats. I figure i'll try those out first with my DIY double-layer I also have a JCP puffer UQ that will get finished this week and that will be another option... I don't...

Well, if all goes good with the waterproofing, i'm gonna try to hang this weekend or next week one night and see what happens.
I didn't think I really needed to go any further...
Thanks
I have been using the 100% poly stuff, got a few of the $.97 clearance poly serger spools the other day, says it's Uv resistant too so should last a little longer. Pretty thick dia, seems strong...
so, managed to get some more work done this weekend on the tarp. got the last remaining three reinforced corners done. made 2 more reinforced areas at the mid point of either side with loops. in the...
Nice, looking forward to seeing the end-results...
Great video, thanks for the test!
Too funny, I was just talking about this with a friend today. I fealt like I had way too many irons in the fire!!! He (talking me off the ledge) stated that it's a good thing to have several...
I've heard opinions from both sides of the aisles and it seems like more of a preference than anything, even more so if you are monitoring your ounces like so many do. In the end, it's all about what...
Welcome to the forums and to your new addiction from MD!
I'm sure I will sooner or later... Gonna use em a bit so I don't feel so much like it was a total waste of money.
Nice job, hope my diy tarp is 1/2 as nice as this one...
Seems as though all of my hard work as of late, has paid-off. Well not monitarily (sigh...) but, mostly in satisfaction and a little boost in the ol' pride department to boot!
Took my new Grand...
I have several, one that I made myself from an oak blank my dad got for me years ago. Nothing really fancy like the faces and whatnot. The one I like the most is the ironwood staff he had, It's...
I'm a new hanger, been a member of the forums for a while, live in Taneytown, MD.
Nice job! I'm still working towards my first hang in my DIY hammock...
Well, an attempt at putting together my first tarp has begun. :scared: The 1/2's were cut to length, ridgeline is done (although I think I went a little over-board on the seam). All the edges are...
I survived the entire video on 1 cup of coffee! It's pretty powerful so i'm not surprised that I was able to keep my eyes open the entire time... ;) Enjoyed the report!

Welcome from Taneytown, MD and thanks for your service!!
Jeez, with all this bragging about the older machines, I almost feel insecure with my little 'ol Singer Esteem... :'(
Definitely Like!
Dig the VW... thought it was real for a sec.
Like your design, another diy project i'm going to make happen when I have the funds. I feel I should have one for my setup since the Mid-Atlantic is riddled with no-see'ums...
yeah, I realized that would have probably worked after the fact... I'll be sure to try it that way the next time I decide to do that much seam ripping... Ugh! :P Good thing is, the Puffer UQ is...
Okay then, just got done ripping the seams so I can put my UQ together and I gotta say, I don't envy you guys doing more than two. That is, If you had the seams I have, jeez, what a pain and it took...
Just got my first ordered hammock from GT, pretty good turn around, ordered Saturday, got it Thursday via usps... Can't wait to put it up and do a little hangin'! Best of luck to ya!
Interesting, I've never considered actually using a hammock for a normal sleeping arrangement instead of a traditional bed. Been so used to sleeping in a bed in a "Bedroom", that it never dawned on...
Wow, almost too close for comfort imo. I hope my 1st hang goes as smoothly as yours and the wmakers stay up in the trees like they're supposed to...
Welcome from Maryland...
Welcome from Maryland!
Found what I believe to be silnylon at walmart couple days ago. Cant blow air through the fabric. Doesn't stretch and has an almost rubbery coating to it. Not ripstop but I believe its at least...
Okay, so I'll nix the nylon for suspension and get myself some poly straps. The biners I have are old school so they aren't pretty colors. Just good 'ol metal grey, probably from the 60/70's I'm...
is it safe to assume that, using the climbing gear that I have, ropes etc will suffice for hammock suspension? I have some old equipment it's in really good usable shape that I hate to see just...
Bought a couple of the JCP down jackets a few months back @ the $5 clearance price. Going to start working on the UQ for my sleep system here soon. Lots of great ideas to work from...
Got my GT hammock in the mail today. Can't wait to check it out... Still need to come up with the tree straps and lines but, i'm getting closer to my first hang!!! Woot!
Good info, I'm gonna work on my uq. Got a couple of the JCP puffer coats on clearance a while back to make one. I'm generally one of those over-preparrers anyhow. ..
Just ordered my first hammock from Grand Trunk yesterday. Just the ultralight, however, still working out the suspension. Seems as though you can sturdy up the 250lb weight ceiling by upgrading the...
Hopefully she keeps up the interest, i'll give her all the requests she can handle while she's still interested... Found some more today in a cobalt blue, not enough for a hammock but, enough for...
