the rings are exposed so you can adjust. but they won't go through the snake skin.

one problem w/ putting the rings on the tree huggers is that in a heavy rain, you may have to get wet to adjust...

my rings & short support rope attach to the hammock w/ a lark's head, so i put the snake skin on the hammock, then add the support rope.
the small hole of the skin is then whipped to the support...

for sewing webbing to webbing, i use bar tacks... usually about 7. ...tim

yep, that's why most people make a simple slip knot that pulls up against the rings. that leaves no room for slipping & one tug loosens it.

i'm around 200 & i have had slipping if the webbing got the least bit of center.
but the slip knot is a quick & sure solution to that.

seems like you might run into limitations because of the different tree sizes you would come on.

yep, those long distance hangs will test your supports for stretch.

yeah, me too. i have trouble w/ the tension sometimes. seems to me that sometimes the adjustment knob isn't responding & changing the tension on top.
