just the thread I was looking for.
I ordered my first hammock, a xlc bb double 1.7, with the idea of buying the best, and not want to get something else later. Also got in on the handy hammock discount. $143 shipped.
After combing the forums I am seeing nothing but good reviews and recommendations for Incubator's. I was wondering about the possible length issue, and am glad I found this thread.
Do you all have the Incubator or the Incubator Long?
How does the Olive Green Incubator look with the xlc compared to black?
anyone have pics?
Most of my camping trips will likely be by an ocean facing beach (half moon bay), hence the handy hammock, or Point Reyes. Both places tend to be quite windy... half moon bay had 10-20mph gusts last time I was there, point reyes was probably 0-15mph gusts
Would you suggest I just get some refletix or some foam/air pad (and shove it in the double layers, to use until I know for certain that I need a UQ?
Would a Incubator Long 0 degree be too warm for California camping? from reading, you can always loose the UQ a bit to solve that. 40 degrees is likely the lowest temp I will see for the near future, but I would like to be able to hang in the snow, for winter trips to tahoe for snowboarding. Should i get the 0 deg and overstuff 4oz and be able to hang in any weather?
If I get an Incubator, what additional dutchware products would I want to be able to adjust my setup? I see dlm3 mentioned ridgeline quilt clips
I mostly car camp so weight is not an issue, perhaps short hikes, longer if I can quit smoking. A good UQ would help me not need the 9lb military sleep system, that thing is huge, but warm.
anyways, any suggestions on how to proceed are appreciated, I haven't even got my xlc shipping info yet, ordered apr 4th... been 33 days already.
