Yes, as Passinthrough points out, the pocket above your left shoulder (when lying in the hammock) is the pistol pocket. As he says, turn your handgun upside down and slide the muzzle end into the top of the pocket and out the open end, which is the one on the head end of the hammock. Muzzle points toward the head of the hammock, away from yourself, grip pointing upward where it is very easy to grab in a hurry if needed. I have had many sizes of handguns in mine. I have only run into a problem when a revolver I had was quite large, and then the grip was heavy enough that it was top heavy and wanted to tip over the whole thing, pocket and all. But that was a pretty large revolver. A steel 1911 type pistol does just fine, and any of the polymer pistols should work very well. Hope this helps.
