Drewboy and I briefly discussed the positive aspects of the partial underquilt. in my experience, a 2/3 or 3/4 length UQ wont (obvioulsy) have gaps under the lower legs.
its my opinion that on a end-gathered hammock or a bridge hammock (a best of both worlds scenario) the shorter quilt combined with sufficient CCF under legs is the ticket.
As Drewboy knows i used a 2/3 length UQ and a borrowed 3/8 pad under my legs at the same trip he was on, and i had no cold issues. BTW.. isnt the Warbonnet Yeti UQ a partial length size?
sorry andrew, whether or not the mod to the Nest will control the air gaps on the a-symmetrical footbox shelf of the Blackbird is unknown... you can try it. Im just trying to sell you an underquilt
i'll be on the blackbird waiting list one of these days, as i do still use that style of hammock for 3 season. It wont be to replace anything necessarily but to add to my -ahem- 'collection'
