Yah a top cover will help to trap additional heat in the hammock and block more air movment than the bug netting alone. They help to keep you warmer than just the tarp would. Because the top cover and the hammock are totaly breathable fabrics they will not help with rain blowing in the ends of your tarp though. But yes I do have plans to eventualy do a weather resistant sock at some point after I have these rolling. The sock will fully inclose the hammock with a light DWR fabric to protect everything from inclimate weather. You do however have to be carefull about maintaining good ventilation with the DWR or you can get condensation problems.
