It will likely be smoggy and humid with poor long-range visibility. July and August are pretty brutal here in NC. I'm new to hammocking, and I kept seeing all the posts about keeping warm. All I could think is how am I going to keep cool.
Also, there is a lot of air conditioning in use in July, so the TVA (Tenn Valley Authority) is really cranking to keep up with power demands, and they are a huge contributor to smog in the area, in addition to what comes from road traffic.
It is rare to have clear blue skies in July in the Smokies. Most of the time the skies are Carolina White.
