Girl Guides isn't co-ed here either, including barriers to participating if you're a father. I know of a number of girls who ended up in scouts because their fathers wanted to be involved. For some it's siblings. For others it may come down to the program offered.
In Girls Scouts here, there seems to be at least some
opportunity for fathers to help out. I'm still exploring how I can fit in and help where I can (I'd like to do some hiking and camping with them, for instance, wherever I can help but not be in the way).
