If you are going to cut the hooks off you need to cut them with a grinding wheel. You can try the saw but I'm betting it will just glide over the steel without cutting it very well. I just did the same here. I ended cutting them off with a grinder.
But give it a try first. Its the same as trying to cut a master lock with a saw. It just don't cut it. tuff stuff.
Already tried the hacksaw, and, as suspected, it failed miserably.
