I have not been that far north but from what I have read and heard you should not underestimate bears or any other wildlife. I friend at work whose cottage is no where near as far north have bears poking about. My question is how has the cabin been managed in the past. I recall reading that remote cabins are kept stocked in case anyone that is lost can further their survival. Hopefully the people that manage the cabin manage it well and keep food and refuse unaccessible so no bears come by when it is not being used. Just thinking out loud, I could be totally off.
