Although i'm not familiar with that area i would say your correct about just fallow the rules and your ok. The people who own the cabin don't want problems so they probably take care of the place so as not to attract bears. Those of us who grew up in Canada and live rurally or in the bush don't much worry about it and frankly the farther in the bush you are the safer you are with the bears you meet. When your there look for recent bear activity and don't leave your fish guts around etc. Personally depending on what time of year you go i'd be more concerned about black flies.
