I made up a new version last night with the front end doubled over and the pocket material doubled up as well. It is stitched with Gutermann Mara 70 thread and I am no longer concerned about the strength.

After taking another look, I think the your idea of angling the pocket forward would help. When you sit in the chair, it draws the front edge backward and out of line with the current 45* pockets. Thanks.
As to the idea several have discussed about using my regular hammock folded over...sorry, but it's not for me.
I can set up camp, have a comfortable chair where I want it and climb into the hammock at will. I can't see purposely waiting until I want to sleep to take down the chair, unpack and then set up a hammock, bug net, UQ and TQ in the dark.
I can also stuff the hammock with the bug net on it, pack it away and still have easy access to a chair if desired for an extended break.
I realize this isn't for everyone, but it works for me.
