You probably are pitching your hammocks too tight because you don't have the flexibility in your setup. Is there a park you could go to nearby for testing. I only have two trees in my yard, one in the front and one in the back - makes for tricky setups.
But there is a park about 5 minutes drive away.
Actually, if any hammock would be happy with your conditions, it's the Switchback. They seem to like a tighter than normal pitch. (I own a WBBB and a SB).
As to the bugnet on the SB, I tie it off to the tieouts at the ends of my tarp ridgeline. That way the guylines for the netting are protected from rain, under the tarp - plus, this lifts the bugnet up and out of the way. It sounds like you don't have room to deploy the tarp, but trust me, the bugnet is one of the best things about the SB.
