Oh boy, here we go again!
Welcome, nsdemon! At least now there are plenty of users to comment pro and con. Plus, if you search you will find many threads and tons of posts on this subject.
I am still trying to decide whether to use mine on an upcoming trip to to the Wind River Mountains, where I have used it once before (2006) with
plenty of success. I kind of want to use it just because I started with it in these same mountains. As opposed to my other great choices: a JRB MW4 on my JRB bridge( really over kill for these temps, but works so superbly on and all I really have for that hammock ) vs PeaPod vs Warbonnet Climashield Torso UQ. Any of these systems work great and have their pros and cons.
Bottom line summary on the HHSS: some people are fine with it, a few love it and a few hate it. Some folks have condensation problems, some do not. Some are not warm, others are plenty warm. There, that's a big help isn't it?
I have always found mine to be quite usable( I actually have 3 of them!), I think for the price it is just fine, especially if you catch one of the big sales. Assuming you are one of the lucky ones it will work for, then it's big major plus over all other systems is the additional water/snow/fog and wind blocking of the included under cover, especially
if you are using the stock diamond HH tarp. This wind proofing is a major plus, and is buit into the price and weight of the system. But it is any one's guess if this system will work for you, works fine for me. Plus, with the optional over cover, you pick up a lot of retained warmth and wind blocking- and maybe a small bit of added water protection- on the top side for 3 oz.
If you get it when it is cool and you can test it, maybe HH will take it back if it does not work for you? Something to ask about I guess.
