Hempseed my friend, perhaps you should check out BushcraftUSA. I see you mentioned Camping and Survival in the same sentence so you may be looking for woodsmanship in general. To be perfectly honest, the two communities go hand in hand like ham and mac and cheese. I'll look forward to seeing you over there brother. As for the Hammock, I usually suggest a DIY hammock made of a painter's canvas dropcloth and some acceptable rope. At 400+, my first one held me without strain. I did however eventually purchase a Hamock Bliss No See Um No More for fairly cheap. That is, after I decided the Hammock was truely the direction I wished to go.
