The alacrity with which this product would have to have been created:
1.) designed by a brand new HF member (who joined just a scant 12 days ago),
2.) design adapted by GT,
3.) put into production,
4.) patented (and that alone is astonishing), and
5.) pushed out for testing
-- what an unbelievable 12 days that would have to have been.
Inconceivable!...

Agreed!
This whole thing seems a little funky.
Did Grand Trunk ask permission to use Hammock Forum's name as a way to promote the item?
Also, being that they have a patent on it (already?) does this mean that the speer pod and other pod systems will have to stop production?
This pod looks like an awful design and after reading a few reviews and some of the posts on HF. I think this "new" pod system can do more harm for harm than good.

i like to know how they can patent a pod system thats been around a lot longer then this sleeping bag with holes in the end
being the speer pod is well known and documented i don't see speer having any real problems .... but maybe new vendors trying to market a new pod system might find a problem it will all depend on the wording in the patent

i don't want to get too off topic or off the OP
but............
i'm not sure .... but if they tried anything they can point out that it was out long before there's so i don't see it becoming a big deal for the speer pea pod system...JMO.. but i do think depending on the wording it can be a problem for any other vendor wanting to put out a pod down the line
make you wonder if every vendor should patent there stuff now before the big dogs do it for them
I,myself i write down all my ideas(original copies) and mail them to myself so there is a post mark on it and i don't open it this way i have a dated copy of anything i come up with just in case... no it's not a patent but it is a federal post mark date so they can't argue that they came up with it first
i know a few guys that patent model trains that do this incase they can't patent it right away

It's certainly different enough from the Speer pod to be arguable for a patent design variation (hood, for one). It is however much closer to the 'High Peak Hammock Bag' which has been around for quite a number of years.
I'm personally less interested in patent claims than the designs themselves. This one doesn't seem to accommodate diagonal use though, so I think it is ultimately of limited appeal. And that is compounded by the strange practices regarding the announcement.

i agree ... to me it just seems like a mummy bag with 2 zippers on each end
i just find it funny that a member of 12 days came up with the idea ... and that fast ... it's pretty much what a lot of people have done with the old mummy bags as cheap pea pods
if it was my site i would be sending a nice e-mail to GT ... thats just me
