Saves you the weight of the rings and biners and some feet of straps. All depending a bit on the diameter of trees you encounter, I normally have no problems with my DIY treehuggers (110 cm [or so], 3.5-4 feet)
Do you have a picture or diagram of this anywhere? Sounds perfect, but I can't quite figure it out from the description.
