Get yourself some thin cord with some type of very small hook on it- like a mitten hook - and make a Prussick knot:
You may need more loops to grip those slippery Whoopies.
Many people prefer to attach the tarp to the trees. You will get a much tighter pitch this way. The original HH way, when the hammock sags the tarp will sag and become loose and floppy/noisy. You will need to rig up some stout elastic tensioners- or hang weighted stuff sacks from the mitten hooks at the tarp side tie out- to minimize this.
But if you tie the tarp to the trees, have it as close as possible to the hammock ridgline. And tie the tarp on the tree lower than the hammock tree saver starps. Because when the hammock sags but the tarp does not, you might find yourself quite exposed to any side ways rain.
Oh, congrats on the comfy hammock!
