Jan 17-20 gets my first vote, but I can do either.
I like the idea of going to the forest.
There should be plenty of wood available. read "big fire"
Which will be the only available back up plan, All will have to help gather wood, read LOTS, and if someone gets cold they can stoke the fire until daylight.
These outings are a lot of fun, but do require a lot of work from everyone attending to make it enjoyable and safe for all
I agree with not a place to practice your skills. Practice in the back yard or close to home before attempting a full on winter camp.
Practice improves your skills, and confidence. Even if you have done a lot of cold weather camping.
I put together a sign up and other item spread sheet. First time I have done the Google Doc, so I hope it works.
Life's A Journey
It's not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body,
But rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting,
Woo Hoo!....What a Ride!
