Actually you are right and wrong! Dutch has come up with a couple different types of biners, the ridgeline biners and the suspension biners. You are correct the ridgeline biners either Ti or aluminum cannot be used for hammock suspensions.

FWIW I have had a set for a few years now and they are awesome, have a 400# weight rating and definitely fit the UL philosophy.
