I always take a few NyQuil and may even try some more serious sleeping pills, just in case. Multi day trips if you don't get good rest are rough.
Also, +10000 on trekking poles. A set pretty much saved my life on a very rough (hurt knee, lost the trail, bushwacking down the side of a slippery/steep mountain in the rain) about a year ago. I'll never go backpacking again without them. Plus, they serve nice double-duty around camp to prop up the tarp porch, etc.
