Sounds like a blast! I'm really looking forward to Mt. Rogers and some cold weather camping.
Yes, I should clarify my comment. I do still love my BMB hammock, and it is awesome since I made it wider, and in fact, the one I made myself is awesome too with the bugnet sewn in and a zipper added. I liked that so much I did the same thing to the BMB. But I always dreaded using that huge tarp so that the 36 inch spreader bars would have plenty of room.
The main reason though that I am happy with the WB Blackbird is that it is almost as flat as a bridge but hangs under a tarp like a conventional camping hammock. When the bridge is hanging empty, it lifts up a foot or two and usually so high that it hits the tarp anyway until you get into it.
So, I have chosen the Blackbird as my current favorite for all of those reasons, and it is more comfortable in some ways, but does not beat the bridge very far. I really enjoyed hanging more this weekend because I could stretch out my arms and legs, and just had more room that a bridge, though not quite as flat. The storage space is awesome. I doubt I will be able to live without it now.
All these factors go into my choosing the BB over the Bridge, but the fact remains, there is no flatter lay than a bridge at this point.
