I've also been dissatisfied with complex quilt suspensions. This gives me a lot to think about!
I use a symmetrical hammock because I switch sides & diagonals throughout the night, so I might like to keep a "daisy chain" of attachment points for more flexibility.
It is not easy to change in the middle of the night. What might work is to keep the lines slightly longer and put the "shoulder" loops higher up. Then you could adjust the quilt by just moving the cord locks on the main lines.
