In fact I have not camped in my new hammock yet but I've use my Noah's Tarp a bunch of times while tent camping and I've found that running a CRL works really nicely with the caternary cut ridgeline if you just don't tension the heck out of the ridgeline. The ridgeline of my tarp actually looks more like a U shape than straight across. This allows for easy raising or lowering of the tarp via loosening or tightening the corners and doing the opposite with the ridgeline - want the tarp higher, loosen the corners and tighten the ridgeline. Easier than having to move the attachment point on the tree if you want to raise or lower the tarp IMHO.
On the topic of running the RL above or below, I have always ran the RL below with no issues.
