I work for an asphalt company and our asphalt plants run hot rock through metal chutes. The metal wears down over time causing holes. For a quick patch, they will put 100% silicone on a square piece of cardboard and place over hole on metal. Believe it or not... this patch will outlast the metal around it.
Wow, that is hard to believe! I believe you though...You would think the hot rocks would tear the cardboard or melt the silicone somehow. I guess it would depend on the size of the hole and where it's placement is?
