If you made the netting slightly longer (increesed bulk I know) you would have a range of options for the pitch of the tarp. But as you pointed out the wind... Hmmm... Rocks or sticks to weigh it down? I think this idea has some potential but needs some trial and error.. My thought was to creat away to keep everything under your hammock bug free and be able to access your gear, but perhaps that is asking to much, Maybe just have the netting sewing in the tarp and go under your hammock? Again no bulk or weight savings, but you wouldnt get that "inclosed" feeling you get when your in your bug net..
