maybe, but I don't think you'll have much luck without the suportting truss across the top.
Worked on stages for awhile setting up speakers & mics. The weight rating on these is primarily because of the locking collar. If you exceed the weight limit the tube can colapse into the base as the fiction on the locking collar is overcome. I believe the tubing has much greater strength in that vertical configuration. Adding the truss across the top may make it possible to safely use as a hammock stand. YMMV, ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK, NOT RESPINBILE FOR BRUISES OF PHYSICAL OR EMOTIONAL NATURE.
