found these 2 pieces of information that may help in your pursuits:

fear not the knot, it can be conquered/mastered...
there are several places on this forum where you will find videos of the inner workings of just about every issue you can imagine
have patients & do some perusing, it WILL pay off
keep your digital camera charged up & have an extra memory stick handy
take pictures of every step you take in your project, so you will be able to revert to the original state or duplicate your successes...
a yellow legal pad & a pencil w/ eraser are also quite handy
don't be afraid to open things up, by clipping a zip tie, just use a small pair of nippers, not a sharp knife(don't ask)
though not quite ANVIL simple, hammocks are almost that simple and the use of the right supplies can render you wonderful results
i am in the middle of re-doing the suspension on my new, to me, hammock and am having a ball working thru the issues
buy a bit more material/strap/cordage than you think you will need and experiment with it
having a red crayon, a sharpie, a tape measure, an awl, a small pair of nippers/wire cutters, a pair of long nosed hemostats, a small roll of moderately stiff wire, a roll of blue painter's tape and a fairly large flat surface to work on will be down right handy, when playing with your project
