You can make it quick and easy by only sewing a channel in each end. Use that to adjust the fit to the hammock. Then use the loop in the 4 corners to attach it to the hammock. Or the cord from the channel like the yeti.

No problem with that advice. However it is not a crucial with a cheapo Wally World 3# synthetic sleeping bag. That insulation ain't going anywhere. (Not like a down bag) But there is certainly no harm in doing that.Originally Posted by animalcontrol

The problem that I had with that (it may be unique to the asym HH) is thae weight of the bag causes serious sag if the long sides are not properly supported with some kind of cording. I ended up needing to use 1/4" bungee to get a decent fit. But once again that may be unique to the HH. It is easy enuf to add a cord channel if need be.

What I saw at Wally-World for 9.88 was a camo youth model syn bag.
I plan to make a DIY UQ out of it. Says it is 27x60 (yeilding an ~ 58 x 60 UQ ). Felt very light and looks like it COULD pack sorta medium-small, at least smaller than my present syn bag & thermarest. Hope to get it to fit my gathered end Kalisto. If you try this, and it it the same bag, show us how it works out.
At 60" you are probably looking at the equivalent of a torso quilt. Not saying that is bad. Just be aware of the unique issues of torso quilts. Having never used one, nor built one I can't comment on the suspension of it. But there are lots of folks here who swear by them.

I discovered that the hard way. My first uq attempt ended in utter failure. Thought I was being slick by getting a TQ and UQ out of the same cheapo bag. No such luck.
I also agree about the weight issue. I tried using some cord with some bungee tied in (kind of like HC4U's line tensioners) but it took some trial and error to get the stretch to be enough. In the end, I had just made them too short in the width to do any good. I'm sure I could mod them to work, but I haven't had time to tackle that kind of a project.
