Maybe we should rename this the SE Nebraska Hang - Kansans, Iowegans and Missourites welcome.

Or the Omaha area hang? LOL! I don't care what we call it...and since you've become the defacto 'host' of this run, I'm good with it! Totally looking forward to this run.
Been lurking here for a long time....reading, learning, making gear, solo hanging etc...
I'll see if I can get my schedule open for the Hang, and procure some cold weather gear to take along.
My family and I usually camp there a couple times a year in our travel trailer. I have Motorcycle/hammock camped there twice before with MrClean417.
Omaha,
Welcome! Always good to see new faces! This will be my first hang there. Ususally what are the temps/weather lilke that time of year? Just making sure my gear is ready as well.
Radiohead, when I first met Dudorino out there, the temps were in the mid 50s during the day, and mid 30s at night. That was late Oct/early Nov. We're getting out there a bit later, so it might get a little cooler, but well within your gear rating I'm sure. Plan like you do for a KC area hang...you're good!
Sidenote: Weasel has informed me that since I've indicated I want to train for the Tough Mudder in KC in Aug, my training will start with this trip. I'm scheduled to run trails on Saturday morning. Should be...interesting.
I'm glad Weasel is coming...our first trip out to this very spot was where he graduated to be a serious outdoorsman in my eyes.
A year ago for that weekend 11/22/13 according to WeatherUnderground:
in Omaha
High was 29 dF
Low was 14 dF
in St Joe was
High 27
Low 22
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
BUT - in 2012 it was low 39 and High 61 in Omaha and 37 / 72 in St Joe!!!
Hoping for that this year!
Will be keeping eye on it - I don't have the gear for for hanging in the teens.

Temps will probably be in 40's to 50's during the day and upper 20's to lower 30's at night.
I don't have an underquilt, just been using a reflectix layer and a thremarest pad under my sleeping bag. Probably not enough insulation for the predicted temps. Any ideas for more insulation without spending some major coin on a down underquilt?
27 is the forecast low this Friday here in Omaha. Last year was a really cold year for us....I build a backyard ice rink every year and our first skate was the day after thanksgiving last year. We had skateable ice until late March. Longest backyard rink season we have ever had.
Closed cell foam pad from Wal Mart. Will run you under ten bucks. If you need one I have a spare. What is the temp rating on your bag omaha?
I have 30° and 10° bags. I use the 30° bag as my topquilt along with a fleece bag liner.
