    Hoot and I are planning on going to the Minnesota Frozen Butt hang this year. Out there the temps stay in the neg zero ranges the whole time and they use closed cell pads all the time to soup up their rigs. With what you already have one should work fine if you use it as your bottom layer on your insulation.

    Should be fun. I'll get to see how low I can go with the PLUQ w/added insulation. I'll bring ccf just in case though.

    I also may head up there Thursday(20th), just depends on a few things right now, it will give me an extra day since I'll be leaving late afternoon on Saturday.

    There will be no water there and we can see the river, but it is very steep and long climb.

    Be sure to bring water!

    I typically bring enough for the first day and a half and take a nice hike back to the car to refill for the last half the the stay.

    Since we are not going to be too deep into a trail is everyone going to treat it kind of like car camping? Personally I'm treating it like backpacking, but I might plan on making another trip back to my car to possibly get my extra water, clothing, or what have you.

    Weasel and I should be coming out with a couple of folks who've never 'hung' before. Not sure what they're bringing...might be hammocks, might be tents, might be tarps. I'm really going to need this run.

    I don't think I will be attending but thought I would pass this on. Looks like temps leading up to that weekend will be highs in the low 30's and lows around 15.
    Also, that spot you are camping at has a group of 3 adirondack type shelters if anyone wants to make use of them.

    I may have to cancel out on this one. My Mom has been on hospice for several months and took a turn for the worse last week. She has fought the good fight on cancer for several years but now requires someone to be with her 24 hours a day. If anything changes on if I can attend I will let everyone know.

    Thoughts are with you Radiohead- I've traveled that path.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    I might not make it to the hang because I do not have gear for the extreme (for me) cold weather that appears to be coming.
    I'll keep an eye on it though and hope the lows stay above 20ish! I sure want to go.

    peace to all,
