Bump to the top.
Rice, are you and dameon thinking of getting to the park a little early on friday to secure a good spot?
I have heard your confession I know who you blame
If you had it all back you'd just lose it again
Can't bank on redemption if you ain't saved
Don't bring me your tales of temptation and loss
Don't bring me the pieces of your shattered cross

I just wanted to bump this thread up.
There is just a little more than three weeks left until the Congaree Swamp Hang!!!
I am looking forward to a good turn out.
I will be bringing my kayak so I can spend some time in the creak Saturday.
I would encourage anyone else with a kayak or canoe to bring theres as well.

Having never camped at Congaree, how far is the trek from the car to camping area? Are we gonna do every man for himself food or try a group effort?
The car is approx 100 yards from camp, and every man for himself seems to be the easiest way to do it but maybe if ya'll want to we can plan at least one group meal or something!
Relax, monsters under the hammock are easily distracted by twister-playing squirrels.
If you stand on the picnic table in the camp site, you can see your car! It's just a little walk

I haven't been down to Congaree in years, really looking forward paddling it again.
Just to be sure I'm not heading to the wrong place, is the clearing that was in the first post the campsite/parking lot, and do we need to stop by the Welcome Center for permits/registration. Also, what facilities are at the campsite we'll be using(water, bathroom)?
For those who plan on paddling, are ya'll taking the guided tour through Cedar Creek or going by yourselves? Will there be a shuttle or someone to give us a ride from one landing to the other or are we just planning on paddling up river and then coming back to the same point?
A free canoe is better than no canoe.
Dameon and Sir Gravy the Brown will be getting the permit for the camp site. All you need to do is mosey on up and introduce yourself. The welcome center has a spigot for potable water. You have to get the key from the ladies I think.
I usually just bring a gallon or two. The last couple of times, there's always been someone with a 5 gallon water jug. Will probably be much of the same this go around.
Oh, and just so you know...the first time I saw dameon from my car while he was standing at the campsite, I thought I was in the wrong place...but he's a big ol' teddy bear!
Someone else will have to answer the paddling questions.

I wasn't planning on taking the guided tour, but it is an option. I haven't looked into it.
I am planning on putting in at Banistars Bridge and heading down stream to Ceader Creak Landing. Here is a link the info
There is a map on that web page.
I am sure that between the cars and trucks that we will have there we will be abe to figure out some arrangements for shuttling our selfs around.
